Feeler thread for a Special project on The Book of Azazel

Will do

Ah thats great to hear!
The one spirit from this book I have successfully called in just with the sigil and name was Dra’talon. Very strong, very cold energy flooded the room. Haven’t seen a result yet, but I’m aware this one takes a while (only been a year or so).

Nice, so just an ordinary glass or bowl will do?

Yes. Here’s some tips for scrying - just substitute ā€œmirrorā€ for ā€œwaterā€. You enchant to to make special and set it apart form mundane things for the duration.

And a random web bloggy thing about scrying in general that looked good:

before the glass, obviously see you through the bowl. I don’t think it really matters. before the glass, obviously see you through the bowl. I don’t think it really matters. I personally go to like a dollar tree or like a thrift shop or something and buy a glass and bowl so that it’s always for like ritual stuff so I like cleanse it and stuff like that, but I don’t think it really matters.

A black bowl is generally recommended and that’s what I use. The same basic principles of a black mirror still apply.

he is my favorite for the type of stuff that he does. he is my favorite for the type of stuff that he does. I used him once and it was a success and it took about a year a year and a half for it to actually work. I actually kind of forgot so I’m very good at not lasting for results.

Book of Azazel:
E.A.: I never committed myself as your sacrifice. Azazel: Without such an implicit pact, I could not have been called. You cannot see nor taste nor touch a thing without committing yourself to a union with that thing. And you have indeed seen and tasted and touched me. And I have seen and tasted and touched you.

This is my crossroads. This is the gauntlet that has been thrown. His name has been in my mind for months. EA goes on to say to Azazel that he has not called him, and Azazel assures him that not only has he called him, his spirit has screamed for him. I feel the reality of those words, but I don’t know why I would be screaming for him. I’m in an obscure place right now, both spiritually and magically. I have deigned to keep the infernal beings at arm’s length, intense with hunger to pursue but cautious so that I don’t ignorantly enter into a commitment that will cause total destruction to my life/health/mind. My readings have been showing me changes are coming, and I feel they are imminent. I know I have to choose to go forward, or not and slip into familiarity and stagnation and leave this realm with not much good or helpful to show for my having been here.

Is anybody else having an existential meltdown? Or being confronted with choices after saying you would take part in this?

On a completely different note, has anyone experienced like an intense sexual lust for an infernal being? Is that parasitic interference? What do you do with that?

I was I was just thinking about suggesting using a black mirror too. I was just thinking about suggesting using a black mirror too. For a smoke list. I was just thinking about suggesting using a black mirror too. For a smokeless waterless fireless wait to manifest as well. I was just thinking about suggesting using a black mirror too. For a smokeless waterless fireless wait to manifest as well. Thanks for mentioning the black bowl.

Not really… but then again I’m Aquarian and my middle name is change, I get bored and change things up all the time and that’s normal for me. I know a bigger sea change is coming when I see the 555s starting up again, that’s my sign. I got some a month ago, but that is manifesting as desired and is under control (I’m changing employers).

But I never quite stopped working with Azazel since I started a few years ago, things don’t have to get externally crazy for inner work to happen, and if you keep a pathworking open long enough it can be slow.

No, but I’ve had them come on to me. I have a humans-only, no-consorting-with-spirits policy, it completely sidesteps the whole ā€œam I being parasitized by an imposter?ā€ thing and makes life drama free.
I set a very clear boundary and enforce it, with force, and maybe cutting off the relationship if necessary. It’s usually fine and they immediately stop being weird. It’s not a helpful value add in my book - when you’re dicking with your own energy, I think it’s ideal to change only one thing at a time so you can fix it easier if it doesn’t work as expected. To layer in new energy-based relationships during a big operation is too hard to track and I want to know myself better not worse by the end of a working.

As always, thanks, Maulbeere. I’m also Aquarian, but the darker side of the coin. Def ruled by Saturn.

A, thank you, greatly appreciated.

I will see if I can obtain one somewhere. If not, I’ll get a regular one.

Mine was a multi target procedure, aimed at the ring leaders in a matter that I won’t go into, but is more than anything the reason I have pursued magick.
So far the outcome has yet to arrive for any of them, but its still only been a year.

To paraphrase a well known quote ā€˜They have to be lucky every time. I only have to be lucky once’

If you get a regular one, just paint the inside black. You want a dark surface for scrying, hence the required black mirror, black bowl, polished obsidian, dark liquid (ie blood), etc. The author Konstantinos in one of his books talked about using motor oil and a glass of Coke-Cola to scry.

I’ll see what I can do.
If I’m not able to obtain suitable materials, I suppose I could get a small dark coloured frying pan. They are likely more easily obtained locally than an actual black bowl.

Or I suppose I could get a black plastic rubbish bag and use that as a liner for the interior of the bowl.

I ask myself, what would McGyver do if he needed to improvise a scrying aid?
(that will only make sense to those who were alive in the 80’s)

Once you get the technique down, you can literally scry into any surface. A dark one is just easier in the beginning.

Make sure it’s not shiny. You want a matte black surface so it doesn’t reflect any light.

If you can’t find a black bowl, you can also go with dark blue. When scrying, you need to gaze beyond the surface of the medium and any colour on the bottom of the bowl will tend to catch the eye, making your mind focus on that instead of any images that come up. That’s why a dark surface without patterns is generally recommended.

Couldn’t you find a bowl on Amazon or a thrift store? I found mine at the local Value Village.

Edit: Just checked Amazon and you can get a 5 inch black ceramic cereal bowl for $15.

Ah, interesting. That makes sense, although I’m unsure how the concept applies when considering that black mirrors are often used -aren’t mirrors inherently reflective, that being the quality of shininess?
Im not asking this to be a dick, just genuinely curious.

Ah, I think its making more sense to me now. But I’m not quite putting my finger on why exactly… is it about the focus of visual attention being between actual visual things to focus on? If so, I can see the correlation with sigil gazing.

Or am I overthinking things again? I do a lot of that.

The problem with anything requiring delivery- couriers here only deliver during business hours. I leave before 6am and usually don’t get home until after 8pm. Anything left on the door step will be swiped pretty swiftly.

There are quite a few things that seem readily available elsewhere that don’t really have a market here. Like coloured candles. White seven hour candles, easy to get in the earthquake supplies section of the supermarket. A few Two Dollar Shops get other colours of candle from time to time. I’ve managed to get some black, some red and a few green. Never seen another colour.

There are a couple of places with kitchenware that may carry something suitable, I’ll need to try and get there at some point when they’re open and see if they might have something suitable.

Don’t worry, I’ll find something before the start of June.

No, black mirrors are made with matte black paint specifically so they don’t shine. You don’t want any reflection at all. Candles are placed to the back of the mirror so no light is cast upon the surface and the mirror is set at a 45 degree angle so the magician’s face won’t be reflected when gazing into it.

The easiest way to create one is to take an old fashion glass picture frame and paint one side of the glass with matte black paint. Then you put the glass back into the frame with the paint on the inside and voila! you now have a black mirror. The hard part these days, though, is actually finding a glass picture frame. They’re all mostly plastic now. EA has instructions for building your own black mirror with frame in his book Questing After Visions.

It’s similar to sigil gazing but more passive. You’re not projecting anything into the surface of the scrying device but instead are waiting for them to float to the surface. EA’s Evoking Eternity has some great scrying exercises.

Ah! This is making more sense to me now.
Its about creating a blank canvas of sorts?

Given that mirrors and water etc are what are usually described, I had always presumed that the reflective quality was part of the formula so to speak. Evidently I’ve had it back to front.

Now this… this is something that is absolutely easy to come by here. Thats assuming by glass picture frame, you mean the window of the frame as opposed to the border that holds it?
If so, thats a potential win. Numerous places here sell those.
I just need to grab some matte black paint and a brush and I’ll be all set.

Yes, the removable front piece. Paint the inside of the glass with black paint so that no light comes through (usually takes two or three coats), then put it back in the frame with the painted side facing the back.

Exactly.

Ah, excellent, many thanks. I get it now.

There’s a place that sells A4 glass fronted picture frames about five minutes from my office. I’ll secure one at lunch time tomorrow. Should be able to get matte black paint easily enough.
Should have it all in place before 1 June

Damn, that’s lucky. I couldn’t find one anywhere in my neck of the woods so I mainly stick to scrying into water and on a few occasions, fire.

Your mirror can be any size you want but make sure it’s not too small so your visions don’t feel cramped. When you paint, you want a nice even coat.

Have you seen any of EA’s live streams? He has a beautiful full length black mirror hanging on the wall of his temple.
