You are the limitation: the actual magickal one is you. You. Get good, you learn and you build the skills, and you give the energy and direction for the spirits to work. Your magick is only as good as you are. Get good. Learn to walk before you try to run though, or all you’ll do is get hurt. This isn’t anime, a game or any kind of fiction.
Throw everything away you ever read in fiction and start over learning about what magick really is from scratch. Hint: it’s energy working. Do you even yoga bro? 
As for the question about Corwin Hargrove’s Jinn Magick book - it’s not just one ritual, it’s dozens. get the book, it works, follow the instructions in the book very carefully and seriously, and it will work for you too.

You’ll want to get your spiritual hygiene sorted out, and start work on developing your astral senses.
Then when you can know you have a decent chance at avoiding impostors and parasites then try the first contact guides we have on here.
But I’d say try a Petition (see the links) to ask for help with your situation, do not direct the method just the outcome. Petitions don’t need much skill. And are an easier into into asking entities for manifestations.
