So I bought a Oujia board some months back, and it’s been sitting on my altar ever since. I guess I’m asking for general information on what a Oujia bored really is, and how to use it effectively. I know it’s good for divination and communication (or I think), and that’s about it. Ofcourse I know the movies aren’t accurate, but what are some guidelines or just ways I can integrate it into my magick? I want to hear stories too if you have any! Generally, they are considered incredibly unreliable and most mages don’t use them. They are prone to parasites and the kind of people that usually sue them don’t know about protections or making sure they ask clear question and only invite the wanted entity not something random, which will usually be a parasite or a ghost.
On the other hand that makes them very good for contacting the dead, just be specific about who and banish before you start and after you finish. Always remember like attracts like, so clean your space, set your intentions to be for your highest good and that’s what you’ll attract. Best to avoid doing it if you are sad, in a bad mood, afraid or angry.
At no point do the movie trope of going “is anybody there?” - you’ll get random crap that can just be nasty and play tricks on you for fun. , mostly because that’s what’s randomly around in the lower astral.
So basically use it the same way you’d use a sigil.
Know in advance exactly who you want to talk to and why
Invite that entity or more by name or sigil
Ask specific questions
Ask them to leave when you’re done
If they say no to leaving, you got a parasite - use the ideas in the Parasite thread to get rid of those. Be prepared with this knowledge in advance so you don’t get caught out with a problem and no plan. Forum Tutorials: Parasite Collection
Note: there is no reason or requirement to “consecrate” a ouija board, this may be an attempt to ward it. It won’t hurt but the important thing is to cleanse you and your immediate space of astral nasties and set up a ward so unwanted entities can’t come though. I would suggest warding the house and having personal shields, not just the board, as entitles are not “coming through” the board- it’s a communication tool for entities in the local area, ime, not a portal.
