To keep the thread clear and clean for those serious about this study group we have to set some group rules:

  1. Please be respectful to each other not everybody is going to have the same experiences when it comes to evocation. There will be no wrong or right experiences during this group. Given that each evocation is very personal to each practitioner.

  2. No spaming the thread with unrelated comments or conversations, those will be deleted to keep the seriousness of the study group.

  3. Always ask questions. there’s no such thing as stupid questions when it comes to the group. If you don’t understand something or something confuses you please feel free to ask a question there may be somebody else in the same situation as you but is scared to ask question themselves so you may be helping not just yourself with somebody else. The members of the group should be able to answer questions, but I will be compiling a list of questions that cannot be answered to me to further seek the answers (they may be answered later on in time but I will quote and answer the questions when I have the best answers possible.

  4. Although my DM’s are open for emergencies or super personal messages. Please do not DM me, just to have discussion since that would be unfair yourself, and the rest of the group, as there may be somebody who has better insight than myself.

Study group will run from June 2 until August 11 for active posting but the thread will always be open for this joining later taking longer the 97 days.

Hello and welcome to our The Book of Azazel by E.A Koetting study group. Before we dive deep in this group, please take note that the events of this boon happened almost 20 years ago at the time of the study group even the Author views have changed on things like evocation. I will have an answer to a question I asked below.

I wanted to start with saying that this will be a work at you own pace study group. If you want to work so the all the demons in one or two days evenings because that is your own personal style that is okay. If you want to take 33 weeks or even more to work with demon that is completely fine too. This thread will always be opened to add your findings and experiences to no matter what your personal timeline is

With that being said for the sake of keeping it to a reasonable timeline corresponding to the timeline in the book, I designed the layout to the 90 days plus 7. This give for a week of not being able to commit to chapter 6 daily as working through the houses.

I do want to make the note that not all of the 33 demons with in the house will be personally needed by someone working in the study group. If you don’t need what they specialize in right now and don’t want to waste either of your time. It is OK to pass over them for now. Just at least read their description so you can add it to your arsenal at the time you may need that particular demon. In the same breath I want to note that not everyone will be able to evoke every single one of the demons due to their own personal skill level or the demon using their own free will to not want to work with the practitioner at that time. This to is completely okay, just please remain respectful to the ones that do not answer your calls or tell you they do not wish to work with you. You can always come back to them after you finish the book or you grow in a way that they may tell you to grow.

This is a question I asked the E.A Koetting was about evoking the demons with using things like incense and stuff that makes smoke. This is a direct quote from his answer to me:

“To be honest, my advice with this has evolved quite a bit lately, and it’s probably not what most people are expecting… BUT here it goes: Don’t worry about seeing the spirit. In fact, put your altar against the wall so when you’re evoking you can’t see anything except the wall and hopefully the sigil on the wall, or an idol or whatever your ritual focus is.

Evoke the spirit like normal, but rather than trying to see or hear it, try to feel it through your emotions, your physical sensations, but most importantly, use this as an opportunity to exercise your real psychic senses by reaching out into the room behind you and feeling the spirit there. Doing this, you can get a much thicker “felt presence” of the spirit, often feeling it touching you or breathing on your neck, because even though you can’t see it, you know it is behind you!

Now, you can look into smoke or water or fire and that works just fine… but to be honest, all of those are using the exact same internal vision as looking at a wall and intuiting what is happening behind you, but people get really lost thinking that their eyes are going to see it. Just look at the wall and let your magickal mind do the heavy lifting.”

What are your thoughts on Dante Abiel’s experience with his first encounter with Azazel?

Chapter One: The meeting

When I first read this chapter of the book it made me go whoa that is super interesting and intense. I will share my notes from the past and again in here, but what stuck with me was that the way Azazel came to be a part of for the lack of better words plan. After the events that took place in this chapter.

For those that have already worked with Azazel, this would be a great time for us to share our initial experiences with him.

For those that have not worked with Azazel after reading this chapter what do you expect to have happen or come from your first meeting with him?

This would also be the time for everyone to evoke/invoke Azazel to express our intentions and to ask for his guidance while working through the book. If you need help in evoking this great and grand Demon please don’t be scared to ask questions and asked for help. That after all is the point of the study group.

I don’t really have any expectations. I guess I’m taking an open minded approach.
The only thing I’ve done with Azazel was during the MFWB group project. But that largely just involved the image and sigil.

How would you suggest approaching this? Would just doing the same as in the MFWB group project be right here? Or should I like to do something different?

I was intrigued by reading about a person who finished the Foreword, said “Azazel” and had a strong feeling in response btw I tried replicating the 9 days possession, starting from summoning him and repeating the incantation, also using some methods e.g. from threads here. During the following period I felt the palms of my hands being very hot.

Chapter 1: during some years I did a few times the Gatekeeper Ritual, “no props”. In a Live Chat with E. A., he answered me about the necessity of a possessed person in the ritual; so I did it once again (all the times I was the only participant), but that time I went for a possession by Belial.
On one occasion I repeated “Pater noster qui es in abyssus…” and the other incantations/conjurations, also from the Evocation of Azazel video, feeling strong vibrations in the body.

How do you normally evoke spirits?

Usually with just the sigil and name and some seriously intense focus.

But I appreciate that the design of the rituals in this book is different, ie requiring the gateways etc.
So Im wondering how I need to tailor it for this activity

Hmm, yeah, it would be a way for me to do this working properly; I may start exactly from today… It’s also a bit of time I was thinking about applying spiritual hygiene and other references/tutorials from this forum, for example in regard to Evocation.

Not for this first part as it isn’t really part of the “book” just a polite idea to talk to Azazel before his legions. So, I would do as you normally do for this.

Can you post daily for the next 9 days like a journal here? I would really love to see and discuss what happens. I can’t do it right now with having to train new employees but I really want to see what you experience and find.

It struck me as a little odd that the book is titled after Azazel and is based around spirits subordinate to Azazel, yet the book does not include anything on communication with Azazel

So for me, this was the first ever book from modern Western Occultism I ever read. I was coming from a journey that started in qigong, to qigong therapy (beneficial reading and energy manipulation of others and myself) to shamanism, to Lightwork and then druidry. So in these there is the concept of working with various entities - human, non human and nature spirits - as teachers.

I have never read the bible and I knew very little of JCI lore, so I had no preconceptions about Azazel. As an outsider comfortable with working with disembodied people, I already thought the fear around “demons” sounded naïve, and it contributes to my impression that the JCI religions keep the average person deliberately helpless and childlike spiritually.

His experiences are incredibly intense and emotional, and written as physical. I assumed they are using clairs. I noticed a VERY strong “pollution” as I’d all it now coming from his JCI background that colored every interaction and ever sentence us used for the working. This inserted multiple assumptions and interpretations that I did not feel were sensible or correct.

Such as, “now I’m damned” - I think there’s no such thing as “damnation”, not being remotely JCI - so this was frustrating to me, looking for a translation into the structures I was familiar with.

All I came up with is “you’re now on the JCI entities’ naughty list” - their leader is literally, historically a brutal, psychotic and unforgiving war lord, and you are working with the “other side” in their galactic feud, so now you expect to be “cancelled”. Considering the power tis thing had when it was walking the Earth enough to be labeled a “god” (it’s not), that’s pretty meaningless - nothings going to happen to you - but still, fear is a hugely powerful emotion and he was fearful, defiant and approaching this whole thing not in gratitude but from usury, although I always applaud his curiosity, which was also a main motivator.

TL;DR, much respect for the display of well develop psychic ability, nil points for preconceptions and JCI pollution inserted into an otherwise ridiculously beneficial working.

Azazel got him through intense withdrawal off very heavy opiate use in only 9 days, which would probably kill most people. Zero energy of gratitude was his 2nd mistake, from an energetic perspective not a moral one. The working is already not under full control because he is parasitized by more that drugs but also JCI egregores, and who knows what else, and he doesn’t know that. This first 9 day working though is an amazing result that made it worth it all by itself.

I will do this today. The first time I did this, and the dedication is still active in my older grimoire, he basically told me to go away and work with some of the Nethers first before engaging a pact - in particular Lae’ti’kohl to up my psychic combat and defense abilities. That was … idk like 4 years ago or more, maybe 5, wow… I’ve changed a lot in skills and mindset since, so lets see where I’m at with him now. Knowing what I know now about how busy it is out there, this made perfect sense and he was absolutely right.

June 2th… The day for summoning Azazel according to The Red Book, an almost unknown French grimoire… Wow! Although I already called him, I think I’ll also gaze at the sigil from this text and use the conjuration in it.

I always found it interesting that the archangel Raphael told him bluntly that he could do nothing to free him from Azazel because he had “damned himself in his might” and that he just had to endure. He basically told him to just suck it up because it was what he had asked for. It reminded me to always keep in mind that old axiom, “Be careful what you wish for because you might just get it.”

I kind of had a similar experience years ago but mine wasn’t because of drugs it was because I wasn’t willing to face my own shadow. I was very much into the whole “only love and light” crowd when I bumped into Azazel. He dragged me out of this high I was running on into a darker place where I was forced to face the things I tried so desperately to ignore inside myself and I hated it. This is when I too called Raphael to free me from Azazel’s influence but he wouldn’t help me. Which I’m grateful for because it was only by truly facing myself that I was really able to heal the things that held me back from what I want to do and who I want to be in life. So my workings with Azazel had a very rocky beginning.

I am currently working with Azazel and his Legion as we speak, have currently made a 90 pact with him as well as seeking his knowledge in Necromancy. Dante’s story of his contact with Azazel does vibrate with me in a lot of ways, I did seek Azazel for knowledge and power, his energy is definitely intense and some of the same things he spoke to Dante about was also mentioned to me, especially in regards to attachments/addictions that are holding me back from reaching what I desire so deeply. I have been aware that sometimes a message that was written in these tomes can indeed be meant not just for the person but also the reader so if a phrase or statement feels like it is for you then take it as just that, the deamon, God, or Goddesses way of connecting and communicating with you. The Ritual of the Gatekeepers is a ritual I have not yet myself done…emphases on the yet, but I do feel that it will be a conversation that will come in its own time to move my own progression to damnation forward, and even though I do agree with E.A. when i say that saying damnation out loud does make me feel some kind of way, it does not change the fact that I do seek Liberation and if the path of Damnation is that key and doorway then i will walk into it with pride and a warriors dignity.

I feel that this entities, know that those of us that call them have a hunger for more power or knowledge or both and are willing to swim in the dark murky waters to obtain such levels of knowledge and power. Given that most of the first chapter was on a ritual i yet did not perform myself, i can not give insight on the actual ritual but i do like the fact that this ritual seems to burn away all attachments and launches you into the infernal empire as well as open a gate to all the gatekeepers, speeding you along your infernal ascent into your own Godhood and becoming a God incarnate.

Those quite a few ‘damned’ references in the book. Personally, I presumed it to be a reflection of dramatic licence rather than necessarily a literal belief in being ‘damned’.

Quick question on pronunciation. I’ve come across various pronunciations of the name Azazel, so im wondering which one you guys use.
For example, I’ve seen (phonetically):
-AH-ZAY-ZELL
-AH-ZAH-ZELL
-AH- ZA-ZELL
-AH-ZAZZ-ELL

Raphael rules Air. Zazel is a planetary spirit of Saturn. Calling Raphael to move Zazel is like moving a boulder with a feather. Of course he can’t help! Air/Mercurial angels of thought are too light-ass to do much to a Saturnian spirit of reality.

My question is simple: why didn’t Dante just call Agiel and command them to remove Zazel from his life? Planetary intelligences rule their spirits.

Honestly, that part of the Ford probably really resonated with me because I’ve gotten that in the past when I was first starting this part of my path from archangel Michael. When I wanted to back out. It was really a suck it up and stop being a baby. This is what you choose so stop crying about it.
