Ghouls in the etheric are a product of entities both human and nonhumans eating souls in expectation of getting power from them. Eat too many and you corrupt your own. However, lost souls also become ghouls through their own negative energy be it from fear of crossing over or whatever other negative emotions are there festering after death.

What happens if you eat an etheric ghoulâs corrupted soul?
The same way ghouls eat each other, or a being goes ghoul. You will do the same since all the souls it has eaten are within its tar-like body. So you take on those soul. Atleast the ones that havenât already been converted to food.

No they are no longer mindless, however in my opinion theyâll either have the other minds sealed back or theyâll have some kind of mental defect. Just my own opinion
