Astaroth is the demonized goddess Ishtar, a being from thousands of years before Lucifer - which is Latin for “Morning Star” - was invented - some say by Jesus who told his disciples that HE was the Morning Star bringing the light of empowerment to the world. Which is actually why they killed him, can’t have that. 
Anyway I don’t see how they’re related.
Magick is highly personal. As I said, you are a creator being… that means you - your whole being at all levels - your mind, emotions, cultural mores, values, your attitudes, your beliefs, expectations, everything you are massively affects and changes how you interact with the universe. What works for others may work differently for you, better, or not at all, and that’s normal and doesn’t mean it’s bad, just that, it’s not a fit for you.
You will also change as you age and learn and grow, and so the magick you’re comfy doing can change as well, That’s all well and good. Knowing who you are and what works for you is one of the most important tasks of a mage. The only way to find out is to try.
