And is there a simple spell that only needs intent and the most basic House things like pen paper that sort of thing that can be cast multiple times to train Magicka

you can also get all creative and think of a spell using those ingredients yourself, like folding a piece of paper a certain way as you repeat a mantra. there are quite a few spells on the forum that require little material, if you look around i’m sure you can find what you need to further develop your abilities

I always use the magick is a skill analogy yes.

And in addition to that, if you find a working you like, and reuse it often, it’s gets easier and works faster, better and more reliably every time you use it. This is without necessarily increasing your other skills.

I just notice that from my own work, not sure if everybody gets that but it wouldn’t surprise me.
