I’m sorry, ^ what?
how do you pay for a service you dont know you recieved
Could do divination for it. The offering is always optional
you are right it is optional…
Remember, offerings are not payments for services rendered, but gifts you give out of appreciation and respect. They show the spirit that you are are a good and mighty king, who rewards those who help you.
^This^
They want to affect reality in this world.
Furthermore- we tend to infuse our own (human) notions of what relationships are and are not into the spirit world. IME, what happens between shems/ emissaries and demons is incomprehensible to us (me at least). It’s not like me hating my parents because they’re looking over my shoulder.
Our notion of duality and other principles simply doesn’t apply in the world of spirit.
What i consider restraint may not be restraint at all in their world.
I’ve had phenomenal results using DOM…but I’ve had truly stunning results using TR’s
Lucifer and the Hidden Demons.
Other than the use of evocation codes- the systems couldn’t be more different.
The reason I bring up the latter is this…in LHD, you need to summon a hierarchy of demons before you summon the one who actually completes the request for you.
But Lucifer and the Kings are summoned in much the same way that the Shems/ emissaries are used in DOM.
I’ve also had pretty good results working w/ EA’s methods from his various “Gatekeeper” sagas- especially the Lucifer Amaymon volume.
I will say this…for what I call “big deal” problems - I get more focused and tangible results using the hierarchy approach- whether that means calling angels along with demons or Demonic Kings and the demons under them.
Now- is there a definitive hierarchy/ structure? Who the fuck knows.
I just started to work with DoM these days. After taking notes and summarizing the opening, authority, and core rituals, it definitely wasn’t anywhere near as complex as I thought.
I kept my offering to the first one simple: the feeling of slowly drinking and enjoying a glass of soda.
I didn’t offer anything to the others, but I plan to give them something anyway when they come through. Idk if maybe they won’t feel as enthusiastic about their tasks because of that, but I have the authority anyway so…
Still, I think they’ll be pleased to get unexpected offerings when I see results.
So, a question on the Shem angel and the emissaries, after doing the Cross and Circle of Light, and you have called out to the Shem Angels and the Emissaries by announcing their names three times snd the psalm three times, while concentrating on the hebrew lettering and their sigil, what would happen if you do not proceed to conjure the demon, but instead work promptly with the Shem angel, or must you do their full ritual per 72 Angels of Magick?
Mmmm just do things as instructed
After a year of working with DoM, I confirm almost everything norski says in this thread. I translated Norski’s tips into my language and this is sort of a DoM appendix for me.
I can say that I was 80% successful in total.
The system proved totally ineffective with magic attacks. There are numerous theories about this and Gordon Winterfield says in the book Magick Attack that magic attacks are easily countered. I believe attacks need to be constantly reinforced, as the energy released needs to stay on target until it produces results.
The ideal is not to impose any deadline for the result, but if it is an urgent case, it is totally valid to determine a period for the spirit.
I cannot be impressed by this post enough. I got a little better first time i saw this and re-read the book.
After a year, i read it again and saw some more insights. This time i really picked up on the mindset of the opening ritual.
Being connected to 5 archangels, protection of some of the most badass powerful beings of the universe.
The mindset when starring into the blank sigil and saying “Ehyeh…” , knowing you will will come to exist because you will so.
The connection to 5 senses and the alchemy process.
The process of connecting to the ruling Shem angels.
I really got into the mindset and took my time performing these mini rituals. The ease of working with the demons and getting the results were the byproducts. Thanks for tips, my fam.
Is it really GOM’s most effective book?
That is rather subjective. What is effective for one person will not automatically be as effective for another. It depends on a variety of things, from a person’s skill in magick, to their innate nature (Some people naturally have a hard time with magick, while others naturally excel in it).
Some find few results with Demons of Magick, and more with the other GoM books, while for others it is the reverse.
In the book, Gordon mentions that you should “Refuse all requests for blood or bodily fluids because they can lead to complications”. What kind of complications and what does he want to say?
What is the issue you are trying to resolve and for how long?
Consider what those fluids really are on a symbolic and literal level
If your doctor’s MD is worth the paper it’s printed on they’ll say that doing blood tests is how you really know the condition of a person’s general health (after examining vitals and everything else that goes on in a physical)
If a fitness client is having issues losing fat despite perfect nutrition and diet discipline the recommendation is to check their thyroid, with a blood test. When we eat it goes into our bloodstream.
It’s the fundamental mixing pot for the state of our entire body and our full genetic code is contained in a tiny drop. Consider the symbolism and what it could imply. It could be seen as the ultimate signature of who you are in that present moment and those sorts of contracts can’t be broken without the other party defaulting on their end. Even then it’s like getting divorced, best to avoid that level of bond when an apple will do.
As for sexual fluids, again consider the symbolism and think about how every magickal lodge puts an emphasis on kundalini work. Kundalini is sexual energy, which is life force energy. Best not grant admin user privileges to anyone you don’t have the utmost trust in
@Norski, I hope it’s okay to ask for your advice. Supposing I wanted to change (to develop patience, wit or charisma for example), how could I make this change permanent? I have noticed that the effects are temporary after one ritual.
Is it necessary to do it over and over again until I no longer need to?
I prefer Marbas or Bathin for temporarily wearing a trait and Haagenti for more permanent changes
Hey! I just wanted to thank you a lot for all the guides you’ve written. I’ve found them extremely useful for my journey with Magick!
This guide has especially been useful with how difficult Demons of Magick is compared to other books on Magick I’ve used like Lucifer and the Hidden Demons, and 42 Angels of Alchemy. I tried a ritual from DOM once back in the first week of January but the whole ritual was a complete failure because I was reading from my notes the whole time. So I spent 3 weeks learning and practicing both the Intro ritual and Core Ritual before finally doing partial evocation with Orias and the partial evocation was a success and I could hear their thoughts and emotions in my head super clearly. I’ve still got a lot to master but I am getting there.
I’ve found using Anki flashcards as well as a Google Doc with my notes super helpful. I must have practiced the call to the Archangels with all the visualization, the Ehyeh asher Ehyeh part as well as the pathworking and alchemical transformation dozens of times. And for the core ritual I would have said the Invocation Psalm and practiced saying the names of the Angelic Emissaries and the Shem Angel, as well as the bit where I call upon then names of God and then by the Power of …, …, …, and … I call on thee spirit; hundreds of times.
I have already done partial evocation with Orias three times for three different requests, and have also done partial evocation with Dantalion for another request. Reading this thread has definitely made me a bit of a perfectionist and I have spent a lot of time practicing before I do partial evocation for this book, as well as memorizing the Words of Power for the 42 Angels of Alchemy book before tasking them.
Again I just want to say thanks so much for all the excellent guides you’ve written!
Hey guys, I wish someone could give me some guidance on how to ask a demon for healing
So, my mom is in the hospital right now. A few days ago a really risky surgery was performed on her in order to get rid of 3 aneurysms; the surgery was a success though, thankfully. However, she’s very sleepy even after they stopped giving her sedatives (she can’t stay awake for more than a few seconds), and because her immune system is currently weak due to being in and out of hospitals for the last month, she’s feverish all the time. They’ve redone some exams and apparently, there’s nothing wrong with her head, it looks even better than before, according to the doctor. So they say she might be sleepy because of the fever.
However, she has a really rare neurological condition that’s gonna need surgery in a few months, and also her femur is dislodged because of an accident a few months ago.
So, yeah, it’s a lot. I want her to be completely healthy again, but don’t know exactly how should I proceed. Can I ask a demon to completely restore her health again, in a general statement (like: completely restore my mother’s health)? Or should I be more specific and ask for one thing at a time (first: heal whatever’s blocking her recovery at the moment, then: heal her neurological condition, then: heal her leg)?
I’m asking for advice because I don’t wanna mess this up
