For example, perhaps as one develops and is able to take in and work with more and more energy, one might attract more parasites than other people who simply don’t practice magick in any way? Can magick, if done improperly or for the wrong reasons, cause more damage long-term to one’s life and/or the life of others as compared to doing nothing magickal at all? When using magick, would you say one inherits a lot more responsibility for themselves and others?
Those are just a few possible examples I thought of.
Yes, there are a few stories on here from people who either didn’t pay attention to protections or spiritual hygiene, as we call it around here, and got cursed or possesses and ruined their lives.
Sometimes though this happened just from using enns on youtube without researching the issues first, and to be fair, most modern grimoires skip the cleansing and safety steps that you see in medieval grimoires, so how would they know?.
What’s less predictable is issues with kundalini raising, which people try to force too early and it makes them sick. There’s a couple of posts from people asking how to turn it off, which needs a kundalini guru. It’s best not to try to force that one too hard but for some unfortunately people it seems to happen to them willy nilly.
99% of the time, all of this can be mitigated with sensible practices, instead of jumping in at the deep end when you haven’t learned to swim.
This is was as a minimal bit of magick 101 advice I put this inyto the intro request pasta post:
You’ll want to get your spiritual hygiene sorted out, and start work on developing your astral senses, then when you can know you have a decent chance at avoiding impostors and parasites then try the first contact tutorials.
Not everybody needs it, but when you do it can be really bad, it’s not really a risk to take lightly.
To some people that becomes too obsessed with the occult and the spiritual world, some can develop schizophrenia and social inability.
