About testing techniques from books

So in my mind, there’s two different ideas in here that both get called ascending:

1. raising energy to gain siddhis
2. Gaining the astral travel skills to gain access to the info of the higher self

i found two major opinions, some who advanced in order to be able to perform those, like moving objects, reading thoughts, etc.. and some instead achieve those through entities,

So, these are two different things, that I outlined above. Developing a skill is not a siddhi.
Working with an entity needs the skill in the first place, the entity can’t do it for you, so whether you telepathically get the info from an entity as middle man, or directly doesn’t matter that much.

However, nobody meditates to gain siddhis, that’s not the point of that meditation, and you can meditate for 20 years and not get the siddhi you wanted. The abilities are seen more as distractions and the warning is, that if you are meditating to get “power” - you’ll never get it. Because your intention is all wrong to get the ascension anyway.
