The shock value keeps human interactions feeling fresh
Sometimes, especially when I was younger, but I find myself doing it now in my 30s, I would do things to piss people off.
Why? Because it was funny to get a reaction out of them.
If you had told 18-year-old me that “you get very angry and want to kill these idiots”, I probably would have laughed in your face and ramped up my obnoxious behaviour, because that was exactly the reaction I was going for. Watching your face get red, watching your blood boil at my behaviour, it was my goal.
Yup. A lot of kids now do it because that shock value helps them cope with the religious trauma from Abrahamic religions. It’s a sad outlet but if it helps them yk
There’s also the idea of rebelling against what is considered “normal” which they think makes them stand out and look cool (when in reality they look cringe).
The reason anyone tries to stand out is attention.
This obviously can be for various reasons. However if people want to be seen, they will try and stand out in one way or another.
