Whose sigils?

Hello People.

I recently came across these interesting sigils.

Does anyone know whose sigils these are and if they are effective?

I don’t believe these round ones are entity sigils. These use a standard sigil technique that you can find on several sigil generators intended for use in chaos magic.

Basically the technique turns the alphabet into a circle and draws lines from letter to letter to spell out the sigil word. Obviously not all of these strictly follow that method, which leads me to believe they are art sigils made by a chaos magician who’s adhering to the aesthetic style of this “alphabet round translated into lines” sigil making technique, and drawing in something likely based on a graphical interpretation of a reductionist set of letters for an intention or entity.

This kind of sigilcraft can be effective, but it’s best if you do it yourself, either using a sigil making engine to do the design, or designing based on your own aesthetic.

Typically such a sigil would be made by listing only consonants in a round shape.

Then you write out an intention, such as: “I AM IN EXCELLENT HEALTH”

Then you remove all vowels and double letters: “MNXCLTH”

Then you draw lines that connect M to N to X to C to L to T to H in your circle, doing a dot for the beginning and a line for the end.

Then draw it again outside of the answer key.

Then open it as you would an entity sigil, or activate it in some other way. Many chaos mages burn their sigils.

As for the one underneath, I’m not sure, that could be an entity sigil but I couldn’t find it with a reverse image search and I’m not familiar with it.

Thank you for a good and interesting answer.

yeah the top ones are likely using a sgil generator and they could mean anything - you don’t have the cypher to decode them. If they used the rose cross method you superimpose that to get the letters and their order, and then guess the phrase.

The bottom is a lamen - reverse image search brings up this pendant as the only result:

Not sure what that first letter of that name on the bottom is. The font is hard to read but my guess is that’s the seal of the angel Barbiel. But it kind of looks like “Marbiel” - there’s no angel Marbiel in JCI canon that I can find, but maybe the person who made this pendent had a servitor or other discovery called that. Not sure.
The name across the top looks like Samael.
@DarkestKnight you know angels better than me - does this ring any bells?

Further searches for Barbiel lamens (same idea as talismans with sigils on them) have similarities, but are different, and I would suspect that this is lifted from the unique work of someone like an etsy seller but is no longer available.

A lamen), meaning “plate”) is a magical parchment or pendant, sometimes acting as a protective ‘magical breastplate’ worn around the neck so that it hangs upon the breast over the heart. Its uses vary but, most commonly, the term refers to a symbol of authority and a focus of magical energies. Lamen (magic) - Wikipedia

You have a good and interesting answer too, thank you.
Yeah, I was thinking of using the Rose of the Cross system to try to get names from these sigils, but they are probably just randomly generated.
P.S.: I really like your avatar, did you draw it?

I wish I drew it, but I stole if from an artist at a artisan goods site called society6, where artists can sell homegoods, wall art, apparel and linens with their artwork on them. I got a tote. Sadly this design isn’t available any more or I’d get some more. I really like it too. Thanks!

I recognize several of them as angelic sigils, likely made via the Golden Dawn’s Rose Cross.

Edit to add:

Here are the same sigils with the angel names:

There is one but, the same sigils of Gabriel and Raphael are different from these, they are created through the Rose of the Cross.
Therefore, I agree with Mulberry and Iydra that these sigils were generated randomly.

All sigils are generated randomly :joy:

The shape is different depending on whether the name is traced on the English Rose Cross, the Hebrew Rose Cross or the Enochian Rose Cross or another sigil generator entirely.

For me, random generation is when it comes from the head or through a program, and not through the Rose of the Cross. If for you the Rose of the Cross is random generation, then that is your right.
