Andrew Chumbley is a well established and respected author in the occult. I don’t have that book but I see a review of it on youtube here:
Ok I did have a copy, and looking are it, there’s a thing in here I’m leery of: you’re going to have to be really confident in your intuitive senses just to get started. The whole thing is an operation to create a magickal tool, but …
It carries on in a very complex, region-specific and dogmatic set of physical and psychical steps performed over time, with hard to obtain ingredients, and including meeting the devil in a graveyard, which sounds awesome but more… symbolic, and very reliant on your astral abilities.
It looks like one of those old grimoires like the Grimorium Verum. full of blinds. It’s not clear what parts are only symbolic not actually practical, I would suspect all of it, but without a detailed analysis it’s hard to say what it all really means.
First of all, you have to get a Natterjack toad, and those are native to Europe, which per your intro is not where you are - so you can use any frog or toad, but, use your intuition to find the right one. And you’re going to have to kill it using a blackthorn spine (thorn) which might be harder to get. A spine means a thorn, not a branch which is what the walking sticks are made of. (The author is British I think?)
AND if you get it 'rong you’re cursed, so that’s nice.
And maybe actually killing a toad is already wrong because it’s a symbolic toad?
And then you wash the bones by the full moon and one of them is supposed to screech at you - that’s the bone-charm, but it needs more work. I assume the screeching is clairaudient, in which case if you are not clairaudient you’re stuck here anyway.
Um, no it’s not worth $3000. Holy hell it’s a collector piece. No way. I’d call this a curiosity.
You know what you can do with that kind of money? - try the Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids training courses for Celtic shamanism. You’ll get a ton of info more in line with your username Druidis44. I’ve got thie Bardic grade course and enjoyed it, and you will be guided to the teaching spirits in Dinnas Afarawn.
I knew an Irish druid, yes, I had druid training before.
