Reviving this thread as I found an excellent historical exposition of what came BEFORE Esoterica’s history of yahweh… before there was a YHWH, before Israel even developed out of Canaan in around 1200 BC, there was the Canaanite multi-god pantheon written in tablets found at Ugarit (in now, Syria) in 1500-1300 BC…
(This is just a good thread to keep it all together.)
El later got the name YHWH that the bible describes as “coming from the South”. he had a wife, Asherah, and Baal (Lord) was another god. Shamash, Bethel and others were also worshiped individually on a tribal or city, not country-wide level. back then, gods did not have influecne outside the tribe they belonged to.
Yes, and war god (they all fought all the time, war was a big thing and there were a lot of war gods) YHWH was the Canaanite “El”, renamed a century later, after Israel was formed…
Which agrees with Esoterica’s pre-history of YHWH as “accidental”
You know what struck me as an occultists - it was Moses that dubbed El as “YHWH” (probably pronounced yahu (lol) ) as he had a vision, and an entity told him he was El but his name was yahweh…
Ok do you know what that is a red flag for? An impostor. That’s EXACTLY what impostors do, they come along, can’t give the real name and say “call me this or use this sigil instead” and then show totally different character. Hubris in assuming your UPG is fact and not verifying your entity is often going to lead to issues, and Holy Moly, thanks for nothing, Moses. Could you have not called up the real El to double-check first, ya n00b? Mage 101: FAIL.
So now I’m suddenly entertaining the idea, that all along Yahweh has been a big ol’ parasite, pretending to be the original “El”. No wonder he didn’t care about his wife or Baal any more and acted like a total psycho - parasites do that.
Fun fact Israel even means “Ruled by El”… except maybe they switched to a parasite and then no wonder all the “promises” were never kept. Parasites never deliver on their grandiose claims.
Anyway that’s an aside, enjoy the info.
