What protection methods do you use before evocation to prevent the emergence of parasites and imposters?
I use LBRP and yet an imposter appeared, so it’s clearly insufficient.

Banishing, a circle and wards.
Even then you should get to know the entity on first meet and verify they are who they say they are.
The Golden Dawn had a complete workup to make sure you were talking to who you thought you were. It was specifically meant for the Astral plane but could be used for evoking etc. This was the original Golden Dawn not the Christianized later versions.
Could you please provide me with sources on this?
Thank you
The Golden Dawn book by Israel Regardie. It is pretty large. You should be able to Google it though most if not all of the Golden Dawn classes are online.
If you’d like a book specifically on the Golden Dawn approach to evocation, I highly recommend the book Summoning Spirits by Konstantinos.
I think the ritual bring referred to is “Scrying in the Spirit Vision” or the ritual for astral travel/projection. It’s on “The Golden Dawn”, 6th Ed.
But back on topic.
The first thing the beginner is taught is a one year commitment to the LBRP twice a day, though some prefer Invoking instead of Banishing.
If you have an imposter, Banishing is not a bad idea.
DK called it, Banishing a circle and wards.
The first time I performed LIRP, on the same day an ethereal being appeared at night; I saw something brown moving. This ritual makes you radiant in the astral world.
The LBRP might not be that effective when you don’t really know what all the parts and movements signify and what energy to put behind it. I think that is in part why the recommendation for the beginning ceremonial magician usually is to make it a part of daily practice, not as the occasional banishing part of a ritual. I’m not that fond of the LBRP anyway, since it doesn’t really suit my practice and I find the LHP altered versions to be oversimplified and diluted.
That being said and to answer the initial question. When I am doing bigger operations in my ritual space I like to physically tidy up and clean my space first while singing something that makes me happy. Then either refresh my wards and give the space a good spray of a cleansing concotion (as taught by Conner Kendall in The Black Magician’s Handbook) or fumigate it with some incense. Most of my work is centered around Hecate and the Primal Craft. As such I usually start with casting “The Cloak Of Hecate” to have an initial bubble of protection and to align myself with The Great Goddess. After that I cast my circle and call on the cardinal directions to empower and protect my circle. If I feel it necessary I then call on the hounds of Hecate or even Cerberus. Even after that I usually also call on either Hecate or Lucifer (if my ritual doesn’t already involve invoking either of them) to protect my circle and ritual. When it’s a smaller operation I usually only cast the circle and call on the cardinal directions
If my work is not centered on Hecate and/ or the Primal Craft, I still cast The Cloak and the same cardinal asociations and sometimes also the hounds, but I’ll gather up as much energy as I can and blast out anything that doesn’t belong or vampirize it and transmute it into an energy suitable for my work.
Thank you all for your replies. If I summon Yeesch or Murmur to rid me of the parasites, is there a chance the imposter will harm me in retaliation, perhaps if the summoning fails?
@Ericx Consider something like Archangel Michael, Luna, Lord Yeesch, or even Ismaelta from KoF. I once even read a user who used both Luna and Lord Yeesch, so that maybe something to think about too and Ismaelta is known for destroying anything be it a person, place, or thing and once summoned remains to guard the evocator at all times.
