What is Sorcery

What exactly is Sorcery? My only guess is that Sorcery involves drawing energy/power from a particular source.

That’s energy working, most often used in yoga or qigong, e.g. prana breathing. it’s useful for magick but not usually a conscious part of magickal workings.

For magick, the question is always about what results you are looking for - it’s great to get energy but what for?

Sorcery, aka thaumaturgy, is often called “low magick,” and refers to any magick directed towards material results like money, love, etc.

Theurgy, on the other hand, is sometimes called “high magick” and refers to any magick whose purpose is to become closer to god or to perfect the self, such as invocation.

I wouldnt say theurgy and thaumaturgy are opposites. Theurgy involves attaining henosis but is also the practice of calling on divine names and divine powers (as opposed to calling on infernal names and powers) to affect change in the physical world.

For example: The apostles of Jesus Christ and himself would of been using theurgy to create miraculous feats of magick.

Goetia is a more direct opposite of Theurgy. Goetia being the practice of “witchcraft” in the christian type of terminology which is calling on infernal powers or infernal names to affect change in the physical world AND can also be used (as we know today) to achieve apotheosis (self-made godhood)

Nowhere did I say they were opposites. I just gave the traditional definitions as the topic is the definition of sorcery.

I mean the terms “low magick” and “high magick” imply opposities but ok. If thats not what you meant what i said still stands.
