I talked about this to a relative and I remember when they said that back then since people didn’t exactly know what energy was they couldn’t tell the different between energy and gods.
So I’m curious if the planetary symbols are powerful energy symbols like the runes or if they really are symbols of real gods.
An explanation would be very appreciated.
They are astrological. They are not connected to any gods.

Yes they are symbols connected to Gods. Back then people knew exactly what kind of energy they were into. Maybe for western people, they didn’t match a planet with a god but in other traditions. They are Gods, powerful ones.
For exemple Venus is also known as the deity Shukracharya in Vedic astrology. Saturn is the devotee of Shiva.
And there are mantras to call the planetary gods. They are rituals to “ Yagyas “ to ask favors from planets.
Vedic astrology was the first to introduce the notion of nakshatras (stars in constellations) which later became known in western magicians as the Shem angels
Astrology was more developed in Eastern traditions than western.
I don’t wanna add to many theories without practice. So take a chart of someone you know or yourself. Use a Vedic astrology chart.
Check if that person has strongest or exalted planet: Sun in Aries, mercury in Virgo, Venus in Pisces, mars in Capricorn, Jupiter in cancer, moon in Taurus, Saturn in Libra.
For eg sun in Aries at 10 degrees so around the 24 April in Vedic astrology. Yahweh becomes the strongest in that period, he will be automatically around the person with an exalted Sun even if the person is not a christian. Whether is for you or against you would depend on the ascendant
The “planetary symbols”, assuming you mean that term in its kabbalistic sense are not related to any gods.
Other religious systems connect gods and astrology as noted, but not the one you may be asking about.

It’s more complicated than that… because you seem to be looking for a Truth™ and there isn’t one. Every system has it’s own worldview, and ornery people like me make their own minds up that may or may not agree with any of them.
I would suggest putting in some time reading around, and keep decision making until the end.

Okay after some thinking I thing I have a better idea what they are but it’s a bit too complicated for me to fully explain but at least I have better understanding of them now so thanks for helping
Are very powerful if you know how to use them through hexagrams and unicursal hexagrams with correct time and day as well as effemeride astro positions.
