Theoricus Astrology Journal and Progress

The type and purpose of this journal: A journal of Astrology notes from three volumes of am astrology series of books, starting with volume one. By following along, Iay teach new people on how astrology fields or types work, and how to calculate and interpret flat or wheel horoscopes.

The textbook for this is “The Only Way to Learn Astrology, Vol 1(-3)”, per my one of two simultaneous texts, “Kabbalah, Magic, and the Great Work of Self-Transformation”, and it’s textbook, “The Golden Dawn”.

This will be focused on to the point notes, progress, and sample work on erecting a flat or wheel chart, for a number of horoscopes based on the four types of Astrology.

I’ve skimmed chapters 1 and 2 of TOWTLA V1, and studiously read 14 pages. I estimate five more pages to finish chapter 1. I will be reading four chapters today with slimming, reading, and note taking. I’ve wrote three pages of notes.

Notes will follow shortly.

Let’s begin with definitions.

Astrology: the science that explores the action of celestial bodies upon animate and inanimate objects, and their reactions to such influences. The parent of astronomy. A subjective science. While astronomy examines space itself, astrology examines the horoscope and angles between the planets, and their observed effect upon humanity. A philosophy which expresses Harmony and Symmetry in the universe and Unity as the parts becoming the Whole, also which helps to explain life, not as a predictive science.

Natural or Physical Astrology: the actions of the planets on the tides, weather, atmosphere, and seasons.

Mundane or judicial astrology: the astrology of nations, their economic and political cycles.

Natal or Genealithical Astrology: the astrology of individuals and study of their birth charts.

Horary Astrology: the study of some particular question that occurs at some moment, in time and place.

Tropical astrology: gives the position of the planet by sign.

Sidereal Astrology: gives the position of a planet by constellation.

Before we start getting into signs, houses, planets, Moon nodes, Aries ingress, ascendants and other topics, we need to take the break here, while I build up more notes to insert into this journal.

I finally understand the ascendant issue not with sun in the birth sign, due to the constellation on the horizon at birth.

That is Sidereal. In my case it is around the Fall Equinox. Instead of Tropical Astrology, which is what this book teaches.

In an Ephemeris, it clearly was utilizing Sidereal Astrology. I can say this sincey Sun sign ended up iny 12th house, while my ascendent was in the next direct sign.

Okay, back to work on this. So far the basic theories and definitions have been written down, now we will be working ourselves toward the language of astrology, nailing shut the definition on ascendant, and working toward low level detail on signs, planets and houses, concluding with how to erect a flat or wheel horoscope.

I love astrology and am looking forward to reading more on your studies!

Thank you … you timed on at the right time.

I’m doing studying after dinner and then porting my notes here after that.

Sorry for the length of time it’s taken to get this journal going again, the reason why is because the book that I am working through right now, and trying to summarize for the reader, reads like a cliff notes of astrology. I have several more notes that need to be taken but this is roughly three more pages before I’m done with the first chapter. after the first chapter it will get more intense and the notes will probably flow quicker. After lunch I will update this journal with my notes.

11-20-2025

After lunch I slowly read the first ten pages, then continued to take notes. I still have four pages of which to take notes on a which means chapter one will be done tonight.

Chapter two will be delved into tomorrow.

I am taking notes on signs, rulership and houses tonight to wrap up.

I am up to review of the three types of houses, without actually getting onto Houses (chapter four), and summary. After that will port my paper notes to here.

I’m going to pick up where I believe we left off. 4,000 or more years ago, on the Vernal (spring) Equinox, Sol was in the tropical sign of Aries, making Aries the first house and in the constellation of Aries.

Precession: the slow wobble of the Earth about its axis.

Due to precession, the Sun enters the Vernal Equinox, in the sign of Aries - but in the constellation of Pisces.

Sign: divisions of space along the circle called the Ecliptic.

Ecliptic: the path through the heavens that all the planets appear to follow.

360° in a circle, 12 signs each occupying a segment of exactly 30°. (30 * 12 = 360).

Aries is the name given to the first 30° sector of space that begins the Vernal Equinox. Thus, signs are calculated from what astrologers call the Aries ingress.

Aries ingress: the point at which the Sun reaches 0° Aries. Now that point is located in the constellation Pisces.

We will concentrate on tropical astrology.

Horoscope: a word meaning “hour pointer”. It is also a map of the heavens erected to determine the potential and characteristics of a person born at a specific date, time, latitude and longitude. Also called Nativity a Natal chart, or a Radical chart.

The planets Earth, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Sun, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, North node, South node.

The signs: Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces.

Horoscope revisited: a Horoscope is a circle split into 12 wedges, where the East is the horizontal left house is the Ascendant.

An Ascendant is the first house, also known as a Rising Sign.

A Descendant is the 7th or West house, and is the horizontal right house.

A Descendant and Ascendant mark the horizontal portion of the chart, where is the horizon marks the first and seventh houses the ascendant and ascendant.

The Meridian on the other hand, is the Midhouse and Nadir, two houses marked by the vertical line.

Elements: are referred to in astrology as grouping by temperament, or a term called triplicity.

Fire signs are Aries, Leo, Sagittarius.

Earth signs are Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn.

Air signs are Gemini, Libra, Aquarius.

Water signs are Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces.

Qualities, or Quadriplicities, are grouping by qualities in common and distant modes of operating in life.

The Quadriplicities are the Cardinal signs: Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn.

The Kerubic, or fixed signs, are Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius.

The Mutable, or Common signs, are the closing of each season while planning for the next season. Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces.

Rulerships: each sign has a harmonious planetary ruler: to Aries Mars, to Taurus Venus, to Gemini Mercury, to Cancer Moon, to Leo the Sun, to Virgo Mercury, to Libra Venus, the Scorpio Pluto or Mars, Sagittarius Jupiter, Capricorn Saturn, Aquarius Jupiter or Uranus, to Pisces Neptune.

Houses - houses can be classified into three groups of four houses - Angular which contain the first, fourth, 7th, 10th houses. Succeedent second, fifth, 8, 11th. Cadent third, fourth, 9th, 12th.

That is all for today.

I will drink one of my coffee mugs, and then tackle chapter two with notes taken.

Upon three hours of sleep, awoke during the witching hours. Had three cups instant espresso. Going to get up, and get my table setup against the wall with phone ugged into the charger.

Denied!! Was told that it is three thirty in the morning. It is really that they don’t want to do what I was going to ask, then disappeared.

Going then to tackle chapter two and relay my notes here.

Tackling chapter two shortly.

There are still a few notes to take for Ch 1, Chapter 2 is on Signs. Then Planets and Houses for Chapters 3 and 4.

For those new to this, the book being studied by me is “The Only Way to Learn Astrology, Vol 1”.

I am currently on Chapter 2, which I will work on when Lunch time has passed. When I’ve transcribed notes, will post here.

Reading chapter two and will be taking notes.

Will update between lunch and dinner.

Okay. Time to be up to several chapters by now, bit life happens. So will be working on this after reading at least 50 pages of the book by tomorrow evening.

Did nada except for some reading, as I kept nearly passing out in my wheelchair in the morning.

My phone keeps acting up, so I think I’m going to get a new phone with a different carrier, new number possibly as well. I’m well beyond sick and tired of a phone constantly acting up on me.

A couple of books I was required to read as a Neophyte were “The Mystical Qabalah”, “The Tree of Life”, and “The Sacred Magic of Ancient Egypt”. The latter had a sister book, “The Sacred Tradition of Ancient Egypt”. I cannot help but wonder if the two books on Egypt expound on Magicians in Ancient Egypt and how they get and keep and utilize their power.

Needless to say, no Friday work was done. I think tomorrow I will strive for more self control and self discipline with my magick works.
