I know that some things, such as flies, can be symbols of specific entities. And that they can be used as offerings or to represent those entities symbollically.
I have a jar of dead leaves, a wholly intact dead frog I found out on a walk, and dead flies that were in our windowsills at work.
I’m curious in all the different uses that each of you might find for these things in your practice.
Also, what other dead things have you used before? What sort of work? Do you believe that these items enhanced your work and made it more successful?
Dead things are used more in hoodoo. There’s sour jar recipes that call for dead insects, you could keep them around in case you want to make any of those, or some war water someday.
After that it really depends on what you associate with these things. Symbolism is not universal, it’s personal, although your opinion can come from culture it’s all about your energy. By themselves they mean nothing at all.
I use skulls as vessels for entities that I work with on a permanent basis. I decorate them and then invoke the entity into them.
Like this: I used a racoon skull to borrow from the spirit of racoons to represent intelligence and problem solving.
I don’t look at it that way. You are layering in energy that has certain qualities, all of which have been decided by you, so it’s more like, a refinement and accuracy thing than a “more” thing.
For this vessel, it’s purpose is to make it easier to keep contact. I can talk to Sapphire in other ways, this is more like a convenience and a show of respect and investment into our relationship.
Not even through psychic vision? I remember a YouTuber suggesting that scrying with their statues makes it easier to perceive spirits compared to relying on no tools at all.
No. I don’t understand why would I even care about that? It’s a vessel not the spirit. A vessel is like a house. I don’t need the house to move about, I don’t need to see a spirit.
I need information and guidance, not anyone waltzing about for no reason.
