Should we Spirit Offer?

I ask this question to debunk a dilemma on spirit offerings .

Every time I offer water to the spirits, I get a feeling that it’s unnecessary.and a waste of resources.

As I walk this left hand path; I’m under the impression that these spirits are basically us and that they don’t need offering left on the table. In fact, if we want to give the spirit thanks, why not invoke them and drink? This the spirit and me savor at the same time, no food gets wasted.

I suppose I’m approaching this with all or nothing mindset. Either I’m submissive or I dictate.

Someone told me that I’m a god/godess and to act like it.

That means I’m not obligated to do offerings, right?

That was probably me for one… I would agree with you and I don’t do offerings. It depends on your worldview really. A demonolater for example, is a member of a religion that worships entities and they do offerings. Not my bag, but if it works it works.

After that I say try t and find out what works for you through trial and error. There’s no substitute for experience.

Offerings take many shapes.

If you do magick including a lower spirit and the magick will feed it still.

If you work with your ancestors about improving your life and well being that’s an offering itself.

You share your experience on BALG, with other people…

Now if you look for the direct protection, blessing from a spirit… More traditionnal offerings may feel more appropriate.

Haha it was you of course. I just didn’t want to say names for polite sake.

But wow, that’s great! Now that you tell me directly to be a goddess and claim you don’t do offerings is dope. It makes perfect sense and is a very logical viewpoint.

I no longer need to hold back, Yay!!!

I rarely make offerings to the spirits, specially to the Lwas but not all the time. Most of the time it is because someone else (not me) received something from them, so that person makes the offering. So offerings are thanksgiving offerings or if you prefer call it ‘an exchange’.
I always thank them for all, sometimes I give them cigarrettes and rum.
