Okay divination is what the runes are most commonly known for, but back then they were used as power.
Not just telling the future alone, but how to find your way no matter how lost you are, mental, spiritual, or physical.
Immune to poison and toxin.
Heal sickness and physical injury.
And if some stories I understand correctly, become immune to arrows and melee weapons on the battlefield. Whether through energy armor like the ironshirt, or misdirection like they say with those bulletproof voodoo rituals.
I have a lot of books but they either tell of what is basically recorded in history of what they are. Or just talk the spiritual experience of them.
I want to know what you guys have found that runes can do, from experience, cause I don’t have much of a social life to really put them into use yet. And I want to cultivate some with my internal alchemy. But I don’t want to chose the wrong one and spend months doing the work for nothing.
What are the powers of runes that you’ve learn they can do, that isn’t in any book?
Wait did I already make this post twice?
Wasn’t sure if this belonged to the Norse or energy work category.
Now I’m still new to rituals and barely begun invocation. But I understand rune training/meditation is a slow process but with enough time worth it when it grants you its power and wisdom. But can an invocation ritual speed up the time? Like you can feel its power and store it and be familiar with it more. Or at the very least enchant object with massive amounts of rune power for later use.
I don’t know what you mean by “rune power”?
Quality and quantity are two different things and “power” is neither of these. It does no good to have lots of energy available if you can’t direct and move it to here it needs to go, and that is a skill that is part of you as an energy being.
Process to do what? These are more like working through the kabbalistic trees, or doing shadow work, they are tools for you to examine and know yourself by deep-diving into each as an aspect of the universe embodied in you. They are more psychological - mental and emotional - tools, not like batteries.
The runes don’t exactly grant anything as if they were the gatekeepers of ability and were holding back … you work with their meanings to realize for yourself what is within you and develop it.
Not really. You can enchant a talisman as a conduit to the rune’s quality of energy the same way you’d enchant it for an entity.
The runes are not only about the magickal but the mundane and ordinary if you read one of the poetic edda, summon a odin or use invoke its power for study. Take some time to ponder its meaning in everyday life and what it represents. Wunjo is joy but so is laguz there is spitural difference between the two. Wunjo can bring happness but also despair, laguz can can bring a false happiness and true despair in death. After every insite and thought about the runes case magick with them and jot down the results if you have good enough divination skills.
Runes are the codes to the cosmos. Each one has limitless potential, in their own field.
Each rune is so simple to use and learn truly, as long as you know how to use them properly. Either by carving or drawing them and then charging, either through blood or saliva or breath when chanting their names. I have heard some incredible stories. But I would like to know if anyone else on this forum has gained some incredible results in rune magic and/or meditation on specific runes.
I’m only focusing on meditations on three runes right now.

They were trendy for a while and the youtuber Freyja (I forget the spelling of her name) has a great channel for each, as does Arith Harger.
Search the forum and you’ll find a decent amount from a couple of years ago. E.A. Published an ok book on Viking Magick at that time, and I like his lucifarian-adjacent take on Loki. Asbjorn Torvol was publishing with BALG and it was a good time for rune magick.
They are not “the keys to the cosmos”, I don’t know where you got that from. The Norse version of the cosmos is seen though yggdradil and the nine worlds. Yggdrasil is how you get to them in meditation. Earth is midguard.
The runes are more like the keys to a human life. Kind of the norse pagan version of the I Ching, the book of changes. They represent the cycle of life from birth through death.
The book Viking Spirit is very good for exploring the universe, and the author and youtuber and university scholar Jackson Crawford is invaluable for real info translating the eddas and Old Norse language. Search on these names here and you should get relevant videos. Or just look them up on you tube.

Post merged as requested and a little tidy up completed.

Yeah, she put a lot of the things I’ve linked here before behind a paywall now though, and per forum rules to not link to for-pay content, I can no longer recommend them.
