Memes aside - y’all know that eating raw meat can lead to salmonella, listeria, E.Coli, trichinosis/toxoplasmosis and others?
You do you, but be careful. Maybe get like highest quality meat you can, I’m sure that would decrease the chances of getting infected by something nasty.
maybe you should have some blood work done see if you are low on a certain vitamin or mineral. That can make you want to eat and crave unusual things.
Like im anemic…so if my iron gets really low it can cause me to crave ice …or dirt.
And like was stated eating raw meat can cause alot of health problems.
Steak tartare is a raw meat AND egg dish, you need to not eat raw mince really unless you make it on the spot because it’s the cut surfaces of bovine muscle meat that have contamination (that’s how you can flash-fry a steak and have the inside red but be safe), all pork and chicken is inadvisable, and if you plan to eat raw liver there are protocols for freezing that which kills parasites by making their cell walls explode (the same reason we can’t freeze people and defrost them safely).
There are ways though, you can rsearch this stuff, and some parasites are linked to a lessening of auto-immune disorders, so the picture is quite complex.
I mean, in general, don’t do it, but if you like it. I eat raw steak sometimes, it was something I trialled before, it’s mentioned in this topic:
Good advice on checking your vitamin and mineral status as well, weird food cravings are usually valuable feedback for things like that.
I don’t know about Raw Meat, but I like my steak rare depending on The Cut, along with the juices. Oh and the mention of this inspired my memory of this Supernaturals Movie of The Vampire Scene, where “Steak Tar Tar” was taken from one of their victims:
Kibbe and raw steak can be fine, just follow a few guidelines. Ground meat should be off the table. That’s the best way to get sick from beef. Even fresh steak from a ground at home can pick up nasties hiding in the gears. If you are going to go the raw beef route then find a good butcher you trust that gets fresh meat daily. Buy a cut no larger than whatever you are going to eat in one sitting. Make sure it is cut fresh off the main slab of whatever section of steak you choose. Take it straight home and refrigerate. Make sure you eat it the same day you buy it, best within 6-8 hours, earlier is better. If you like it at ambient temp just take it out, cover with plastic wrap and let it sit for 30 minutes. If there is anything left over cook it or throw it away. You should be fine. I enjoy some raw steak dishes from time to time myself. I like it in 1/2 inch cubes, NY strip, dipped in gorgonzola cream sauce. It’s really confusing to the palate but also really amazing.
