Protection and Eye for an Eye... for my cat

When we got him back from his little runaway escapade, he was a mess so we took him in and had him looked at. That’s how we know he has FIV.

They have treatments now for FIV but of course our vet didn’t even know they existed. So one day at a time with him.

For sure. You should ask the vet to do a urine glucose test, or alternatively, you could do it yourself - all you need is ketodiastix, which are little test strips that you wet with your cat’s urine. They change colour based on the levels of sugar and ketones and are cheap; human diabetics use them.

Well my human diabetic doesn’t use them. But thanks for the tip! Come payday it’ll be something to look into, especially if they’re cheap.

For sure. They cost me like $20 Canadian, so they’re probably $20 US for you. Make sure you get Ketodiastix, which test for sugar and ketones, and not Ketostix, which just test for ketones. There will be instructions right on the bottle
