Demonic Pathworking (Raziel's paths of power vol 3)- new book by JT

I’ve spent the last couple of hours perusing JT’s new book Demonic Pathworking. I thought I would share my initial thoughts and observations. I have read some parts in detail and some skimmed (its 520 pages, so ill digest it properly over the weekend). It seems more mature and thought out than the earlier volumes. Thats not a diss on the earlier volumes, but in this one he goes into a lot more depth and seeks to provide the reader with more understanding. The book emphasises building relationships with the spirits over time, rather than the vending-machine mentality, and enters into quite a bit of discussion and insight into this idea. Structurally, the ritual is a three part pathworking: first Raziel, then one of the ‘cardinal demons’ and then the demon of choice. There is more in depth discussion on the mental and emotional side of creating and delivering a request than is found in the earlier volumes, which I think is valuable. The request structure is very similar to that found in Brand’s 72 Angels of Magick. Thats not to suggest its been pinched, more that its a robust and effective structure for moving through the mental and emotional framework. There’s a distinct split between inner work and practical functions in the lists of suggested powers for the various spirits, which I think is in line with the emphasis on the importance of inner work found earlier in the book. Thanks - I did do a search to see if anybody had posted about it but this didn’t come up.

I thought it was too wordy, boring, and complicated. I have to set it aside for a while and come back to it and process its method, but I also have buyer’s remorse because it bothers me to use someone else’s pathworking. You can just make your own if you have a working relationship with a spirit. You might as well use someone else’s doodle as a sigil too!

Perhaps I did get my money’s worth by realizing to trust myself and know that all you need is the desire to connect with a spirit, along with their name and original sigil if they have one.
