Demonic Pathworking (Raziel's paths of power vol 3)- new book by JT

I’ve spent the last couple of hours perusing JT’s new book Demonic Pathworking.

I thought I would share my initial thoughts and observations. I have read some parts in detail and some skimmed (its 520 pages, so ill digest it properly over the weekend).

It seems more mature and thought out than the earlier volumes. Thats not a diss on the earlier volumes, but in this one he goes into a lot more depth and seeks to provide the reader with more understanding.

The book emphasises building relationships with the spirits over time, rather than the vending-machine mentality, and enters into quite a bit of discussion and insight into this idea.

Structurally, the ritual is a three part pathworking: first Raziel, then one of the ‘cardinal demons’ and then the demon of choice.

There is more in depth discussion on the mental and emotional side of creating and delivering a request than is found in the earlier volumes, which I think is valuable. The request structure is very similar to that found in Brand’s 72 Angels of Magick. Thats not to suggest its been pinched, more that its a robust and effective structure for moving through the mental and emotional framework.

There’s a distinct split between inner work and practical functions in the lists of suggested powers for the various spirits, which I think is in line with the emphasis on the importance of inner work found earlier in the book.

There is also a section of hybridising the ritual with other forms of practice such as divination, candle magick, sigil magick etc.

So far, Im actually pretty impressed with this. I cant speak to results as yet of course, but this seems to be a very well thought out piece with a very well structured ritual procedure.

I am looking forward to reading this in more detail and giving it a try.

Oh, interesting! I didn’t know Tempest had a new book out. I might just snap up a copy if it is not simply regurgitating what has already been done with the Goetia. I already have three different books on pathworking the 72, each with their own specific images, so I hope it offers something different.

Did you get the electronic copy or a physical one?

I was reading the kindle preview for it, haven’t bought the full thing yet. Does the building relationship advice seem to be demon specific? Or could you retroactively apply it to the previous two books with the angels?

But I’ve been waiting for this one, I’ve occasionally needed demon path workings so I’ve gone to his patreon to find them. I’d figured he’d publish them eventually and I prefer having things in a book format.

The only thing about the preview that makes me nervous is the excessive use of “It’s not x, it’s y.”

I bought it,I was on the notion that it will contain more demon entities, not just the goetia, but this is his best written work,as far as results I haven’t tried it yet.

I’m definitely interested in having a look. Although his pathworkong has never worked for me, personally.

Im not sure which goetia pathworking books you have, but this one is pretty different to other goetia pathworking books ive come across.

I would describe the process as something between the methodology of the first two volumes and Lucifer and the hidden demons, but with a lot more emphasis on lining up the mental/emotional framework (much like Brand’s 72 angels). I will stress though that I dont think he’s pinching from those to other authors, I think the similarity is simply because these are efficacious approaches.

I go the kindle version. The way kindle is structured, the physical version would be less than the 520 pages.

Its insightful but also generic in the sense I think it would be cross applicable. Its largely about the mentality of the interactions and also having frequent lesser (ie, non task issuing) interactions as well as requests.

Yep hes been teasing this one for years. Mentions in the book he started writing it in 2019.

The first part of the book does contain a lot of this. Early on theres a lot of presentation of belief as fact. I find that a little off putting and tbh these parts I skimmed (although I will read them properly when I settle in to digest the book over the weekend).

Yep its goetia based. I concur with it being his best written work so far, im quite impressed so far and look forward to working with it. Its definitely going to take more preparation in terms of digesting the nuances of the system than his earlier books.

Ive had successes with the first two volumes. But less so with AoO

Oh that’s funny, I was talking about a likely AI generated book here Andrew Archer's books - #6 by NewDeparture

If even now established authors are using LLMs to write their books… Personally I find that very disappointing. If they half assed the texts what else did they half ass in the book? I don’t think I could truly trust a book like that. I hope he’ll get asked or called out about it.

Agreed. I guess for now I’m trying to give the benefit of the doubt. I mean the path workings themselves already existed before the book at the very least. But I am wary.

Well, I’ve just done my first ritual (Purify old emotional wounds and energetic blockages, Duke Aim).

I did the optional opening ritual and was surprised to get some gradual but strong energy movement in my body starting at the lower extremities and moving upwards.

In the first phase of the ritual (Raziel) noted further internal energy movement and on the surface of the skin, this continued through the next two phases.

Found myself getting quite excited (in terms of a genuine optimism for the outcome) while making the request to Aim.

the book is solid, he posted it on his patreon as well. he said he used ai to structure it and there’s some parts that carry that tone. thats part of why it ended up being 500 pages, but it fills gaps and ultimately will help new people.
The structure of working with Raziel to make the connection, then working with cardinal rulers the demon kings before calling the demons gives the book that Lucifer and the Hidden demons feel.

I broke down and bought it last night, and then promptly returned it. I take back what I said about giving it the benefit of the doubt, it is incredibly AI generated.

It didn’t seem generated from scratch because it was referencing things I don’t think LLMs would know. Things going in the occult community, things on his own patreon, taking shots at Gallery of Magick without naming them. I think he was asking whatever gen AI to rewrite his words. Some things, like his list of things to better connect with spirits seemed to me to entirely AI generated. It was truly a pain to read.

If you could link to where he talks about how he used AI I would like to read/watch that. Hear his side before I form a solid opinion. But right now I am feeling that if he decided to no longer be an author then I am deciding to no longer be a reader. Gen AI has no place in the occult.

That’s the crazy thing, buying the physical version of this book is more expensive than his other books, all for extra words he didn’t even write.

I think new people would be better served from instructions from another person, rather than a bot.

But maybe my negative attitude towards this is being spurn on by the AI Jesus trying to give me dieting advice. Seriously, that is the ad this site is showing me right now.

He made a post about it on his FB groups, and he posted the pathworkings and a bunch of the info years ago on patreon, the addition of the cardinal kings is new, working through a chain of command.

Amazon’s print on demand sets the price, i doubt his earnings reflect the word count.

The bot is taking info from other people, all the posts/blogs and books the ai’s have sucked in and spit out.

It doesn’t sound like this book is worth reading. I hate AI slop and it’s sad that Tempest has descended to that. I already have three books on pathworking the Goetia so I don’t feel this one is necessary to have.

I found a blog post where he talks about it

I have mixed feelings about it. It is very dismissive of concerns, but he says he won’t be using gen ai on future projects.

Perhaps in the future I’ll get the book for the path workings and ignore everything else. I have recommended his books to people both online and irl, I’ll probably not do that anymore, at least for a while.

The first 60-100 pages or so that I previously skimmed (largely opining belief etc as to what demons are etc) ive now read and concur with what many are saying.

The ritual procedures and commentary around them still seems very sound to me and well reasoned. I’ll keep experimenting with it and see where I land from a results perspective.

BTW, welcome to the forum Hexagram9276. Theres a thread somewhere for new members to post their introductions.

For those of you who have read and used it, I’d like to ask about the part on spiritual authority. The book emphasizes using one’s own power rather than borrowed power. Will that be a problem for me? I usually perform the Bornless Ritual before summoning a spirit, which technically amounts to borrowing power since you’re asking God for permission. I’ve never had any problems in all the time I’ve used it, though I should clarify that I’ve always used it to contact angels and genies; I’ve never tried it with demons, whom the author claims can tell when we’re pretending to be something we’re not.

The Bornless Rite is fine. Aleister Crowley wrote it as a preliminary invocation for the Goetia.

Agreed.

Gone with the AI writing shit!!

I have this book and I use it. I’ve seen concerns that this book is ai generated which gives the impression that it was entirely written by ai.

I find the material to be solid and workable and I haven’t noticed anything questionable in the contents.

I think it’s more likely that Tempest wrote it and used AI to clean it up. Chatgpt would never produce this work on its own. It would need a significant amount of literary input from the author such as a rough draft.

Anyone who doubts that can go to chatgpt and prompt it to create a demonic pathworking in the style of Jareth Tempest. You won’t get anything that resembles this book.
