I have been working with Demons of Magick by Gordon Winterfield and have had some great results working with Dantalion and Sitri. So far, I have exclusively used the “Petition” method from the book. However, some of my rituals have failed, which I attribute to my own lingering doubt and confusion during the process. I am looking for advice on how to improve the consistency of my practice.
Specifically, I have a few questions:
Layering Rituals: I am interested in “layering” rituals to address different aspects of a target (e.g., using Dantalion for mind and feelings, Sitri for passion, and Sallos for long-term love). Since I am only using the Petition method, how can I perform these effectively so that they work in harmony toward the same goal without causing confusion or diminishing the results
2.Performing Offerings: I haven’t performed any offerings yet, as I hadn’t made any formal promises. As book clearly mentions its up to us but this part as beginner was confusing to me and still it is … so all the practitioner how do you exactly perform the offerings?
3.As a college student, my schedule is often unpredictable. If I am occasionally late or delayed in performing a scheduled offering due to my academic responsibilities, will this cause a problem with the manifestation of the result or my relationship with the demons?
Any advice from those with experience in using multiple Goetic entities for a single target while using the Petition method would be greatly appreciated.
Since you’ve already performed the DOM ritual, I believe you’ve initially identified the most suitable demons for targeting magic to influence or change a specific issue. In fact, as long as you break down the problem layer by layer and send a well-crafted, clear request, there won’t be any confusion or reduced effectiveness. The demons are experts in their field with specific abilities; they know how to work. As long as you give them enough trust and don’t make overly repetitive requests (both in quantity and meaning), everything will be fine.
Understanding your position within the magic practice situation, having as much information as possible about the target/situation to be affected, and possessing strong analytical skills will be very helpful when you’re targeting. I assume you have an interest in, experience with, and a preference for working with Dantelion, Sitri, and Sallos. So, we can use a specific example to clarify how to use magical targeting to wisely address different aspects of a problem.
For instance, you’re really into this guy, purely based on feeling. You don’t know much about him beyond a couple of chance encounters (and yet you’ve already developed a crush!). You’ll turn to Dantelion to harness its power of “knowing the feelings and thoughts of a named person.” Let’s call him Jimmy. “Powerful and amazing Dantelion, please tell me what Jimmy thinks and feels about me.” You could wait for signals until you know the answer. But impatient to know, you’ll perform another ritual with Dantelion to “encourage chance encounters that can lead to love.” However, you don’t care about any of the other guys; you only like Jimmy. So you’ll tell Dantelion, “I happened to meet/date Jimmy.” You also know that Dantelion can “Change the thoughts and feelings of a named person.” To be on the safe side, to make that dream encounter smoother, and even without actually waiting for the results of knowing what Jimmy thinks of you, you can ask Dantelion to “make Jimmy curious/impressed/interested… in me.”
And to get a date with Jimmy, if you’ve already asked Dantelion, there’s no need to call Sallos anymore. Because you know Sallos also has that ability, “Increasing your chances of meeting someone you feel deeply attracted to, with the potential to fall in love with you.” However, you can wait until the first date happens, or you can leverage Sallos’s ability to have more natural encounters with this Jimmy guy. “Increasing chances,” after all. It could help you get a first date from a slim 3% chance of meeting, and the remaining 97% means your life and Jimmy’s life have absolutely no connection. And it can also be interpreted in the way I just revealed to you: more dates (the more likely it is that the two of you will connect, or understand each other better, right?). Many of the demons’ abilities seem similar at first glance, as we just mentioned Dantelion and Sallos. But it’s entirely possible to use them subtly and creatively to make a difference. And that’s also a way to avoid repeating what you’ve already asked for.
Sallos has the power to “inspire someone to love you, and to be determined to achieve that love”; and to “inspire an existing relationship to grow faster, with passion and desire.” People will love to use these amazing-sounding abilities even before we mention dates or the beloved Dantelion above. But in reality, it’s better to give yourself the opportunity to meet and connect more, to understand more about the other person, before moving on to a long-term relationship. Besides, without positive feelings or a connection as a foundation, Sallos will likely struggle to get someone to fall for you. And before the outcome even comes, people will give up after only 3 days (so that jerk didn’t text “I love you, you’re the only one in my life, please accept this 12-carat diamond ring”?). So, after seeing Jimmy’s stunning result and realizing you want to pursue him, add some spice to the main course you’ve worked so hard to prepare. “Great Sallo, Jimmy is determined to be my boyfriend.” “Powerful Sallos, Jimmy and I are now a couple.” etc. And you can be even more certain with Sitri’s support. “I’m so attractive to Jimmy.” “Jimmy is smitten with me.” “Jimmy can’t resist my charm/attraction.”
I know this example is too long. I believe you understand the ideas and nature of effective magic targeting through this text.
There are many ways to offer sacrifices mentioned in the book. The most convenient and easiest way is to offer experiences that you value. These are feelings of pleasure, enjoyment, or satisfaction. Make a promise, and offer the sacrifice. While enjoying your favorite music or a fine glass of wine, think of the demon you worked with and promise to offer the sacrifice to. With the awareness and thought of giving this wonderful feeling to that demon, that’s enough.
I really want to tell you that you shouldn’t use time as an excuse to delay your commitment. Meeting deadlines is also a sign of respect and sincerity. By keeping your promises, you’ll see the magic work faster, more effectively, and with better results sooner. Gordon Winterfield also said that offerings are an encouragement to the demons. They won’t ignore you or disregard your request just because you’re late in offering. But your inner guilt and anxiety will make you less confident in performing the ritual, and allow negative emotions to affect the magic.
If you truly can’t arrange your schedule properly, and everything is too chaotic, then as shared above, choose your most valuable emotional experiences and offer them within a short timeframe. If it’s inconvenient for you, schedule offering with the demons in about 2-3 weeks, and no longer. Because the longer you delay, the easier it is to forget or become obsessed with the experience. Both sides influence the magic you perform. I think we shouldn’t be so uncommitted as to delay things for a few weeks without entertaining our beloved demons, while expecting them to deliver amazing results in just a few days.
Wishing you effective DOM practice. And please share your results with us soon.
