Can anyone identify this crystal? I’m not very well versed in crystals/stones. It doesn’t belong to me and I feel unpleasant vibrations from it, if this helps. It’s natural, untreated. The person that was gifted with it asked me if I knew what it was, but I don’t and I don’t really want to touch it now. The owner of this crystal is rather dear to me.
Thanks.
Dyed quartz geode.Sometimes called “druzy” when the crystals are very small like that.
It’s 100$% treated. No natural crystal is that hot pink color, not even rose quartz that’s naturally pink. It’s common to dye or electroplate quartz like this to make the colors more varied…
Thanks.
maybe cobalt calcite
Good idea, but the way the dye is pooled in the joints between the crystals to the points look clearer is a giveaway, as is the overall appearance being the same color without variation.
and also that the edges of the geode where it meets the outside rock are usually a different color not the same pink. If that layer is thick you get a banded agate.
In natural-colored crystals, there’s no color variation in that manner.
Dyed quartz (this one has a titanium coating to give it a rainbow lustre):
Natural aka “Raw”:
Here’s a bit more on how to tell if the geode or crystal is dyed:
This isn’t the only kind of treatment, stones can also be irradiated and/or heated to change the color to something more colorful and marketable. If the stone if from a reputable source they should be honest about it and tell you. It’s not always possible to tell without knowing the history of the stone itself or being able to inspect it’s structure and chemical composition.
Thought about cobalt calcite as well but as I said, I have zero knowledge about recognizing crystals. I do have my own raw turmaline, attuned to me but that’s it.
I just found out how the person received it and the circumctances were weird and far from first version I heard, yeah that person has issues with telling things as they are sigh
Anyways, thanks for the info, now the decision what to do with it is not mine, that person didn’t even want to receive it in the first place, or so it is said. All I can say is that when I touched it I felt sudden surge of negative energy.
You can cleanse it. An effort-free method is to put it in a bowl of water under the full moon. (Well, it’s ok for quartz, not all crystals as some dissolve in water like Selenite)
Or cleanse with reiki or just placing your hand over it and seeing cleansing energy passing through it fro your hand, into the ground, washing it clean of any unwanted energy.
My personal approach to crystals is to treat then as sentient, as the highest order of beings of the mineral kingdom, with personalities and spirits of their own, and they are always beneficial, so if this one has icky energy attacked it would be happy to be freed of that. Compassion and crystals go very well together, and you will have a friend for life. Let it sit near a device like a computer or phone and it can help it function smoothly.
