writing this post because i struggle to use the searchbar and i found no actual explanation for why spells backfire. i need to know this in order to make sure it doesnt happen again, especially if it is something important. is it subconscious limiting beliefs or is it something else?

maybe your target have an anti-spell?

i didnt have a target. it was a good luck and happiness spell for christmas. everything was going great until the day before christmas eve and then all of a sudden i got deep insomnia, i forgot my meds and completely lost the christmas mood
That doesn’t mean your spell backfired. It may not even be connected.

but in the off chance that it was connected. what steps can i do in the future to prevent this?
if it was due to magickal fatigue, then ground and meditate using energy healing techniques like the microcosmic orbit to release the unwanted energy.
On the other hand, this was a spell for “good luck and happiness” which implies you were in a state of anxiousness that there would be a lack of those things, and maybe that’s what hot manifested. To do this kind of spell you have to completely put aside all fear and lock it away as if it doesn’t exists - put it aside - and then do the visualizations that everyone is happy and getting along. Fear is a really strong manifestation energy and you attract what you fear.
MAYBE the spell targeted the other persons but you? A vague intent gives vague results.
