Meditation Debunked?

I think I am starting to piece the puzzle on meditation.

My impressions are that meditation is just sitting and breathing. Clearing your mind. But I figured something out… that’s achieved by using a focal point. It’s impossible to quiet the mind outright as we just are addicted to the notion of thinking. But if you anchor everything into one thing, for example if I focus on my third eye point; I could get caught up on it that it is all I think… thus quieting the mind to one subject.

What are your thoughts on this theory or idea? Do you agree/disagree?

Using a single point of focus is only the beginning of meditation. It’s the first step of a very long process.

This works for me too, just be aware that energy will flow to where your attention is. You can get too much energy in your third eye this way and get headaches. Thinking of your lower dan tian would be safe, and the energy drawn to that spot is used by the qi body to balance your entire being easily.
(Hence the phrase “contemplating your navel” or “navel gazing”.)

You might be thinking of Zen meditation, which is only one type.

As a qigong practitioner, I would also say this is just the start. After you are calm, you can also start to do energy working - cultivate qi, run the qi through your meridians (microcosmic and macrocosmic orbits, work on blocks, astral travel, converse with spirits - al this while it looks like you’re doing nothing.

There are also moving mediation forms, as seen in Tai Chi.

I actually did this last night. Where I suspected a blockage and posted in this forum my experience. I see you already replied to the thread. Thank you.
