Making a pact with Lucifer- is it transactional?

I’ve been reading a lot of things related to making a pact with a demon, and most of them have the theme of “signing your name in blood” and “offerings” over time and anguish you have to spare to the demon for what you want to achieve. Considering the Morning Star, who I’ve heard doesn’t need anything from you, is it the same idea of making a pact with another demon? Will I have to sign my name in blood, and give up some anguish? I would like to know.

No, there’s no requirement for “anguish”, sounds a bit old school fantasy-land. You can get backlash if you are doing baneful magick, but that’s a whole other thing.

A pact is exactly what the word means - an agreement - and you BOTH must sign it. An entity can refuse a pact. It’s best to work with the entity via normal evocation and get to know them first, then ask them, once you are able, if they’d be interested. Then you agree agree on the terms in advance before writing it up and doing the ritual to sign it.

Often the entities sigil is used as a signature. You can use a pen, you can use wine in place of blood if you like, and you should use your astral senses to notice the sigil of the entity being overwritten with energy that represents it’s signature.

Don’t make promises you can’t keep though.

Example: My pact with Lucifuge is to continue working on my enlightenment to be the best I can be, and he will help guide me.

do pacts last a lifetime? can you please explain lucifuge, and how you discovered him? what is the repercussions if I do not do my path of the deal?

They only last as long as you agree that they will.

Lucifuge Rofocale is in the grimoire called the Ars Goetia.

If you didn’t keep up your end you could get cursed, have bad luck, lose the results you had gained, and worse. Never make promises you don’t intent to keep, not with humans and not with entities.

I understand- I have another question, I have read in a book about demonology that stated that physical gifts or offerings such as blood, wine, bread and so on are only a thing because of human generated fear and that spirits do not care about the physical things you give, because they are not on the same plane. What is your view on this?

I thought he was found in the “grand grimoire” or “book of the red dragon”-supposedly the Vatican has the real copy but all other copies are vague interpretations.

To me the act of offerings to any spirit is merely a way to interact with and get a feel for their energy. You make an offering because you want to, not because you are forced to.

It’s like saying “this is my temple and you are welcome in it if you want to be in it”

Sweeping statements are usually unhelpful, and to be considered carefully, there’s usually truth in them, it’s just not the whole story.

Was it demonology or Demonolatry? Demonolatry is a religion, and has it’s own dogmas and emotional hooks to snare people - these don’t apply to you unless you are choosing to follow that religion for your own reasons.

  1. It depends on the attitude of the practitioner and his worldview
  2. Then it depends on his INTENT with the offering
    i) Gratitude, - giving a gift to say “thanks for helping me” is human, kind, and activates the Law of Assumption to add positively to the working
ii) Energy to assist the working - even if given transitionally as if in payment - adds to your ability to focus your will and attention
iii) Energy shared with the entity as a colleague in the working - helps build the relationship
iv) Energy that actually goes towards the working, most often seen with herbs, incense, live fruit and things - the essence can be taken from these.

I have never heard of anyone giving offering in “fear” exactly. I’m not sure where that idea comes from. Maybe thinking the working won’t work if there’s no offering? It’s not really the case, it’s all about you though, if you think it will or won’t based on an offering, then you will make it true, because it’s your magick.

I don’t make offerings, in the ritual myself. Sometimes I make offerings in thanks after I get results.

At the end of the day, there is only one point to all these tools - they are theatrical props to help YOU get your mind and energy into the right state to make change in your reality. That’s it.
You have to try a few things to find out what works for you and what is a waste of time. For me, most of the theater is unneeded. E.A.'s Evocation methods break magic methods down to the minimum that’s helpful to get things moving, and I use those.

Oh yeah, my bad.

E.A. included him as one of the 9 Gatekeepers for the Gatekeeper working, and I just assumed… I have the Lucifuge Compendium and E.A. did a pact group ritual for hire that I took part in.

Actually it’s not an accident his name popped into my head for this thread is it? I’d forgotten he was all about Pacts as an MO.

This is my life - they’re talking to me ALL the time and I just mooch along, blithely unaware I’m being helped all the way. Also THANK YOU guys, you rock!
