Let’s discuss… what makes a god/goddess? What makes them different then…

Since most of the threads are asking this are oldies (even as old as 2014) I figured start a new one one (as chances are most of the peeps that did previous what is a god what makes a god a god threads have left the building so to speak).

So…

What makes a god a god (goddess a goddess)? How do you define it or what do you think the definition would/should be?

I think I’ll start it off with

I think what determines a god as a god at its core is it’s a being/entity that is capable of doing things unexplainable by science that the average person can’t do.

What do you all think?

What makes them gods as opposed to being just another Joe blow Jane doe entity/being?

Also…

If demons and gods/goddess are capable of doing the same things why is one defined as a god the other a demon?

Is the difference between a god/goddess and demon physical? Ethics? Morals? Social skills?

So feel free to discuss any of that or answer any of that. I hope I’ll at least get some general idea or concerns us about what makes one being to be designated a demon and another a god (especially if that have the same powers, abilities or skills).

Oh we were just talking about that in another topic.

This is my take:

So, as I said here, depending on your culture, such as if you’re a Taoist, absolutely nothing.

The western desire to put entities on a pedestal, find reasons they are “better” or worship them, baffles me.

We’re all equal, imo, different, but equal. You pull the right resources wit the right skills together to make a working team that’s more productive than it’s parts, but no one is more or less important that the others, all are needed, or they wouldn’t be there.

Well first off, everything a God can do can be scientifically explained if you have the bandwidth to understand it

A God is Generator+Operator+Destroyer

To be a God is to master the chaos of existence

Some minor gods only master certain aspects of chaos and turn it into power and consciousness, like love, wealth, health etc.

But some Gods which are usually older gods have more power and have mastery over more darkness and chaos

Imagine sharpening your consciousness like a blade, they’re at such a degree where their very observation and light creates cosmic order out of pure chaos

From my understanding of the Egyptian deities this is a simplified analogy of what it means to be a God, you’re basically divine perfection, humans have the same potential but these deities have been doing this for millions if not billions of years so they’re on another level entirely

I have my own theory as to how godhood works and what seperates a god from just a regular spirit.

The theory says that a spirit manifesting into this world is bound to the general area where it manifested, and so has limited control. This is why ghosts that haunt houses can’t go to the store. So, it needs a person or item to act as a vessel. Humans can move freely because we are spirits in physical bodies. But there are ways spirits can create links with us, or vice versa, to expand their range of movement and power.

This is where the concept of belief comes in. Some spirits have been able to convince humans to worship them. A person’s faith turns them into a transmitter for the spirit. This increases their power and abilities. So, the more people who believe in a spirit, and the stronger the faith of those people, the stronger they become and the greater their reach. This means that godhood is literally about status, and that status grants real rewards or consequences.
