I work with the demons of goetia. And I am a painter. I want to incorporate sigils of the demons in my art as templates and with that charge my art with demons’ properties. It is not sigil magic I’m after.
However some of the sigils need to be rotated:
Like Glasya Labolas:
inverted I can see a nice pastoral scene.
But I’m not sure of the effect of that.
It could be ineffective, do nothing or totally backfire.
Does anyone have any knowledge on that? What would happen if I invert the sigil of a demon?
I wouldn’t but you do you.
I know it is unnecessary to do something like that. This has turned into a thought experiment.
It’s not about what I do but more about how it will be perceived.
I think it’s worth trying for yourself. I like to take apart the sigils and redraw them with differences in some pieces. I find that the piece has a very powerful presence when you do that. The piece can then make a great meditative one for connecting with that demon. It’s worthwhile, in my opinion, to creatively engage with the sigils in any way you feel drawn to.
Yes. I had been playing with the sigil on my mind when Glasya Labolas showed up. At first he was excited with the idea (I think), but after some time he was definitely against it.
I still wonder about it as a mind experiment, and wonder if someone has any experience on this.
I’d also be curious to know if anyone has specifically inverted them! It’s interesting that he was not as keen on it as time went on. It seems like a compelling idea.
i haven’t “inverted” sigils by technicality but i have reconstructed some before, making them symmetrical at times or taking certain parts that resonated with me the most to create shapes with X amount of corners or points if that particular demon has a number associated with them. although fun, i stopped, and unfortunately dont have them anymore to showcase. not at the demons’ requests, mostly just that i felt the process unnecessary and there were better ways to offer my time and creative skills to them.
What do you think of that? First thing that comes to your mind…
what do you mean?
The vibe. I’m not familiar with this sigil. But the feeling I get is … chaos… I get chaos out of that. Powerful but aimless.
It’s a reconstructed sigil I made out of pieces of Valefar’s sigil. I thought I didn’t have anymore as I mentioned in my previous reply but I found this one in my files.
Did you experience anything out of ordinary?
Making them draws a lot of power, but like I said before I abandoned making them for other means I am better suited for.
So just as I thought. Unnecessary?
Yes, it was unnecessary for me. I have talents I prefer using over this method.
Ok thank you
I think the effect would be the same whatever way up the sigil would be.
If the viewer recognizes it they might wonder why it’s upside down, is all. It might be obvious that it fits in the sky that way. You might get negative assumptions happening about that, if they guess (wrongly) that you didn’t know which way up it went, but that probably doesn’t matter and very few would recognise it.
Thank you for your comment. Probably nothing would happen.
As painting is a process for me and, intended to be an experience for the viewer, I think I will sit on the idea for some more time.
