Introduction - Clair

  • Where are you from?
    Africa

  • How long have you been practicing?
42 years. I started my training as a solitary hedge witch at the age of 5. I’m 47 now. Though this branch of witchcraft is usually self taught it has been passed down to any females in our matriarchal family tree for nobody knows how long to any women who are the firstborn child and grandchild of a generation. I am the last of our family, my daughter is Gen X and has no interest in keeping the tradition going.

  • Do you follow any particular system or tradition?
Being a Hwedge Witch is it’s own whole thing, but nothing rare or particularly special. I work alone and and follow my intuition rather than specific “rules”. I spend a lot of time in meditation, along the veil and performing rituals in nature. I actually consider myself a pagan first, a witch second.

  • Do you have any practical experience in magick?
Yes. I can perform powerful spells with a very high degree of success for other people, even people I’ve never met in person.

  • Current ambitions/struggles
Although I have success with spells for others, I have an inability to perform spells for myself successfully. I’ve never been ablet to get past this block.
My daughter has left the nest now and I am once more alone at last, and am looking into branching out into different areas of the craft. I am comfortable with both left and right hand magic.

At 47 you’re Gen x, do your mean your daughter is Gen z?

Hedge witchery under what tradition, I want aware Africa had any hedgeriding kinds of witchcraft… European, Germanic, maybe Celtic? Do you call on the entities of any pantheon to work with you?

Ugh yes, Gen Z sorry. Can’t correct it now.

You are correct, I am of Germanic descent on my mother’s bloodline, Celtic on my fathers’, but we trace through the female line. I don’t practice any African magics as tribes in my area rely heavily on their ancestors to which I have no connection.

I do not work with any Pantheons or Deities, unless you count Nature as a Deity. I do work with spirits naturally, and the ancestral element to my work, especially when going into trances is something I lean on too.

I’m very open to different experiences with Magick though, which is why I’ve come to such a different place to what I’m used to.

Very cool. I think the last hedgerider we saw who at least called herself that was StarryEyedWitch who contributed as an author a few years ago. I refer back to her YouTube video about bindings sometimes.

I’m also Gen X and my Gen z son thinks I’m slightly mad

My daughter accepts it but also thinks I’m mad. I never married, I just wanted a baby, so we’re super close. She’s still an asshole on the regular though!

Nice to meet you
