Good morning, afternoon, or whatever generic greeting you prefer.
I am another new member and I have finally decided to actually make an account so that I may actually reach out to you folks. My name is Conor and I am physically disabled ( not paralyzed but I can’t move very much at all. I can type but not much more than that ) and use an electric wheelchair to get around. I am pretty much a 24/7 job to take care of.
The purpose of my reaching out is to see if I might be able to get some direction from someone more knowledgeable than myself.
I am going to be faced with another very long ( probably about a year ) and painful recovery period from an operation which will be performed sometime towards the end of the year or beginning of the next. There are a multitude of things which could go wrong, including being robbed of what little I can do on my own, by way of being fully paralyzed or just outright dead. Because of this, I have been compelled to do some research into “the left hand path.” I hope that’s an acceptable way of putting it.
I only have a cursory understanding of most of this but my goal is to TRY to ask spirits, demons, talking lampshades, etc. if I can do ANYTHING to gain some kind of protection before my operation or at least to know that someone will be watching.
My biggest issue is that I can’t perform the actual rituals that would normally be used to attempt to reach out to these entities. All I have tried so far is to chant the enn for President Marbas and focus on his sigil. I can’t draw so the sigil is unfortunately just on the screen of my iPad.
Not surprisingly, I have been met with no success at this time. I don’t even know if President Marbas is who I should reach out to. I’m not even sure I’m worth His time honestly but I did truly believe that my goal would be within his purview and he might care. This is mostly just guesswork on my part and if President Marbas is not right way to go, that’s all the more reason for someone to tell me how to do better. I don’t know if the Goetic spirits are the right way to go.
I apologize for this long introduction but I hope at least a few of you will take the time to read it. I believe that I am in need of help which you might be able to provide. All I have heard so far is “if you can’t do the rituals, there’s no point.”
Do not expect phenomena when you are just starting out. Chanting an enn and gazing at a seal are sufficient to make contact, even if you don’t feel anything. As with all things, practice will make your contact stronger and better.
Never think of yourself as unworthy. Spirits are not above you in any way. Helping you is their purpose, so they will answer your call.
My recommendation would be to chant the enn and gaze at the seal of Marbas every day, as a meditation. To be successful in magick, you need to enter an altered state of consciousness, and daily meditation will help you get there.
As for “if you can’t do the rituals, there’s no point,” that is BS. You can build an astral temple and perform any and all rituals in your head, without having to do anything on the physical level so don’t lose heart
Edit: You should also consider working with the archangel Raphael and Marbas. They work well together and are the best at what they do.
Hi Conor, its good to meet you. I agree with what has previously been mentioned that you dont need any physical paraphenalia or ritual to perform magick. The magick comes from within, corny but true. This is a great resource for learning with many experienced occultists that Im sure will be happy to help. I hope you find here everything you need.
You are most certainly correct in assuming that I am totally inexperienced in all forms of Magik. So far the Internet has been my only source of wisdom and, as I’m sure you know, that can be dangerous or just wrong altogether.
I truly appreciate you taking the time to respond to my initial post. It’s good to know that it’s not completely a lost cause just because I can’t set up a physical alter or anything of that sort. It will not be difficult to make sure I devote some time to meditation each day.
As for attempting to reach out to Raphael, I don’t know how to do that part but I can certainly learn. This seems like a safe place to learn new things but I can certainly do some research as best I can. I’d hate to invoke the Ninja Turtle and not the angel by mistake.

If I may, is there a particular way that I should be attempting to recite an enn and meditate upon both figures together or should they be acknowledged one at a time?
I would reach out to each being separately for the moment. At least until you get a basic handle on each individual energy.
Enns are specific to demons, coming from the religious practice of demonolatry, so Raphael, being an angel, does not have one. Contact with him can be made by simply chanting/vibrating his name.
My advice, maybe for the first month or so as you are learning, is to bookend your day by calling to Raphael in the morning through vibrating his name and meditating on his seal, and then chanting the enn of Marbas and meditating on his seal in the evenings before bed. As you do these meditations, hold the intention to make contact in your mind.
Here is the technique for gazing at a spirit seal:
I will start taking my meditation much more seriously starting today. I have done so off and on in the past but I will confess that I have probably not giving it my all, so to speak.

@ConorM welcome, also I may be biased here but id love to evoke Raphael the ninja turtle, he’s rude but cool so give him a break but you’ll be okay, I was talking to another forum member yesterday and aside from other things we talked about pronunciations and such, but i believe just because so many of us have different accents, speech impediments, or even just ways to pronounciate words its the intent and will behind it that matters more. Spirits are pretty accommodating towards such things in my experience, as i cant in a trance or even speaking pronounce long vowel sounds correctly, so you’ll be fine man! Again welcome and hoping for the best with your endeavors (also Raphael is a great archangel to work with, imo)
Well it does make sense, i used to sleep with a stuffed ninja turtle one as a child to feel better (not to mention bed covers, pajamas, and action figures) now i call on and channel him to help heal … MY EYES ARE NOW OPEN
Well, it appears that I have stumbled upon something here but I will endeavor to take this very seriously. I assume that calling upon anything or anyone cannot be considered a joke…although that is a fun notation.
Also I work with the Goddess Eris of Discordia who reigns over chaos and confusion. She shows us how all jokes are serious and all seriousness is a joke. If something interests you because it soubds funny go for it she will be with you

Welcome! I had a spine surgery and could barely walk at all for 3 years. It would take me an hour to get dressed and by the end of it I was so tired and sweating from the struggle that I really couldn’t do much else for the rest of the day. I’m sure it’s not as hard as what you’re going through but I can tell you that following an alternative spiritual path that led me to magick has helped me overcome all of my past traumas and roadblocks. I believe in it because I’ve seen that when I take my power into my own hands to manifest what I want, it has worked every time (even before I knew what I was doing). I still wouldn’t say I always know what I’m doing because this is a lifelong learning process. I just believe in it and know it works. I’ll try to watch for your messages because I totally understand.
