Incense and elements association

I have been trying to find if there exists a list or table of the incense types and the elements that correspond to each one (i.e. patchouli might be associated with the earth element). I’ve looked and haven’t found any list. Does this type of thing exist?

It does for Traditional Chinese Medicine, as that has centuries of this kind of associative work with herbs and alchemy. They call them “correspondences” in English. But that uses a 5 element system, and a lot of the time some western herbs are missing. But in general you can guess what element the herb will be by it’s color, taste and smell, as these are also included in the association charts.

TCM herbals will treat imbalanced in the elements in your body using he right herbs and you can get reference books for this I believe. I don’t own one but my qigong teaches did that’s the only reason I know they exist.

E.g. this one:

For western elements, I’m not sure, maybe look into the 4 Humors of Aristotle and Greek medicine.

Thank you. I just noticed right after I posted this that if I look up ‘elemental correspondences’, instead of incense correspondences, I see charts that have the plants associated with each each element and some of the plants are what the incense is made of. I’m surprised that there doesn’t seem to be something on the internet specifically for this purpose, unless I am missing it. I thought the Libre 777 would have it, but I didn’t see it in there, either.

Yeah I’ve looked for them before too. But they seem to be more homegrown and individual, cropping up in blogs and such and then the blogs don’t last and I didn’t copy the info off.

Do you have Cunningham’s Encyclopedia of Magickal Herbs? That has the elements against western herbs as well as magickal uses. (I love this book, this is where I got the inspiration for my poppet “dissolve a relationship” working.)

No, I don’t have that book. Thanks for the link.
