Okay, so some girl who is apparently very experienced in magick told me not to evoke my daemon of choice if I don’t worship any deity because I could harm myself with that. Is that true? On top of that I told her I want to work with both angels and daemons. But guys omg i dont feel like worshipping any deity so what do i do?
She told me the only way is to use Salomonic Magick but tbf that’s dominating the spirit and just forcing it to do what I want and I dont want to do that.
A lot of you here told me I can work with both, and from what I noticed you dont necessarily use salomonic magick in that way like you do petitions and all.
So finally what do i do? Im just confused a lot at this point. Help please!
Find a working system to use. The Solomonic tradition is not the only one. There are plenty of demonolatry systems available, for example.
I personally like the system of EA Koetting. It’s versatile enough to be used for any entity you want to summon whether angel, demon or god. Get his book Evoking Eternity.
Only knowing one way to do anything doesn’t count as “experienced”.
Not remotely true. There’s no rules, let alone a rule that you suddenly have to adopt some random religion to do magick.
That makes no sense at all given the number of atheists, agnostics and “spiritual-not-religious” folks that manage to do muddle through and do magick just fine… somehow. According to this we’re all lying. I don’t believe that’s the case.
There’s no rule that any entity can or will automatically protect you from anything either.
I’d say, if there’s ONE entity that can to this, it’s the operator themselves.
Never give your power away assuming some random is “better” than you, they’re just not, but if you give implicit permissions to astral randoms this way you can run into trouble, so imo, always operate on the working proposition that you are the biggest fish in your pond.
Random third parties are overrated… developing a relationship within an entity so that you know why you can trust them is ideal, and maybe that’s what this person means by “worship”, that there’s an implied reason why they should step up and protect you, but I don’t take that kind of thing on hearsay myself. Other people’s “gods” are nobodies to me until proven otherwise from personal experience.
Personally I’m of the same mind. I never use the solomonic system or kabbalah for anything.
I don’t even agree that those entities are what JCI systems say they are, I ignore the whole system pretty much, as I think there’s much better ones. E.A.’s system mentioned above is agnostic to the practitioners spiritual philosophy and very versatile, which is part of what I like it.
What DarkestKnight said: keep trying out ideas and find what works for you. One way to do this is say, get a book and work through it cover to cover. My first foray into the Western Occult was doing that with The Book of Azazel, another of E.A.’s is Kingdom of Flames. You could take Corwin Hargroves Goetia Pathworking and talk to every entity about any subject of your choice in turn until you have 72 more days of ritual experience, etc etc. Or go another direction and try out the book Jinn Magick for size. Or Jareth Tempests The Filthy Grimoire might be right up your alley given your current workings. Jareth also wrote the Angels of Omnipotence -use E.A.’s system and evoke all of them, some of them, use the system in the books, it’s all good and none of it is the one, narrow, frankly obsoleting energy of the age of Pisces jewish way.
I personally have seen this taught, however when I saw it it wasn’t an absolute rule. In spirit work having some protection can be handy, having a good working relationship with a deity can be a form of protection. That’s how it was presented to me, as one option to consider among many for protection.
