Im creating a MTG magick system

after some time i decided it was time to create my own system.

some basic principles:
every action have energy
every creature have energy
the energy of objects is devoided of power by its own
when you die your energy goes with you
to a action be done you need equivalent energy
a place that is associated with a type of energy produces that energy
your energy can change over time
humans have 2 to 3 types of energy,

there are 5 types of energy represented by the five colors of magic the gathering:

white that represents order and peace, when unbalanced white can act like dictator trying to “put everything in place”
blue that represents knowledge and a cunning, when unbalanced blue can be apathic, over reactive, and uncaring over feelings of itself and of others
black that represents ambition and percy, when unbalanced black can be a cruel and ruthless being crushing everything on his way
red that represents emotions and freedom, when unbalanced red can be impulsive, hasty, and irrational
and green that represents tradition and community, when unbalanced green can be a mix of static resisting to change and overcaring taking too much care and even trying to control someone in order “keep them safe”
there is also a sixth color, colorless, only objects and machines are colorless having no power by itself it need to be used by other colors to do something

when two colors are mixed the combinations isn’t just two or more colors placed together, it is a new thing with new qualities and flaws, but still having both colors present, balanced or unbalanced

before doing a ritual you need to spend some type of energy associated with your intent

there are two main ways to gather energy and use it here:

  1. taking from the ambient: you attune yourself with the energies of the respective place and store them inside your soul. energy gathered this way degrade itself over time. it is easier to gather and store a similar energy ( a “red person” can store much more red than white energy )
  2. turning to ambient: similar to the previous except by one factor, you are making the world resonate with your energy. it is easier to turn similar energies into other similar energies ( blue can easily slip into black simply by using “unhortodox experimentations” )

if want know more about send your question on the replies, this system needs to be developed and questions are going to help

I am very interested in this and would love to read all about what you manage to do with this.

Okay I thought of some questions.
In this MTG inspired system would the energy colors of real life locations match what they are supposed to according to the in-game land-cards?

Like if MTG swamp cards are for green and black energy or mana, would a real life swamp have the same?

Could you also make a real Magick system based on other games like D&D, or Skyrim?

Would this system of yours also have similar spells to what is actually in the MTG card game?

What would be some basic techniques for “taking from the ambient” and “turning to ambient”?

Would this system of Magick have it’s own unique evocation methods?

it depends, think about this way, why is swamp, black? because it is a place where if you aren’t strong, you die, a swamp that is easy to live in isn’t black anymore

Could you also make a real Magick system based on other games like D&D, or Skyrim?

this game have no major symbolism or explanations, they are just mechanics

Would this system of yours also have similar spells to what is actually in the MTG card game?

yes, mtg actually have many spells that can be used in RL magick, like brainstorm or divination

What would be some basic techniques for “taking from the ambient” and “turning to ambient”?

you can use meditation to open yourselves to the energies of the ambient and any ritual preparation to turn the ambient. i like to place especific items into the chamber before the ritual using things like skulls and daggers for black, crowns and religious symbols for white and etc

Would this system of Magick have it’s own unique evocation methods?

actually, i don’t like to put rituals, like “1) take the knife 2) stab the goat and etc”, on my books and posts, because people tend to limit themselves to them. but i have some rituals and evocations on my personal grimoire about it

Thanks. Very cool.
I like the idea of Magick rituals and spell casting but without any physical tools involved.

Instead having just my own mind as the tool to make everything happen.

What are some ways I can create my own magic systems like this?

Could I make one where things like abstract concepts, metaphors, and symbolic representations have literal tangible power?

What does MTG represent?

Magick the Gathering. It’s a tabletop card game.

Yes. One user here has worked with the Daedric Princes and posted about it somewhere. It’s a form of chaos magick and you are basically working with the egregores created in the collective astral by the fans.

Simply go there and do it, if you want to make a system based around the way that you cleanse your home you can!

Well, what is magick if not just what you described?
