Well, you asked in the Chakra section, so I’m going to focus on that.

When you feel social anxiety, where do you feel it in your body? Identify the physical feeling of your anxiety and the way it floods through you, and, importantly, pay mindful heed to exactly what you’re thinking as you’re going through this experience.

Now, the way you feel in your body the anxiety spike shows how the anxiety is moving through your energy body. It might be your throat, but it also might be your naval chakra, it might be your root, it might be more than one. What you can divine from the momentum of your anxiety as a physical sensation is going to tell you if the energy is trapped in one chakra, or if a sequence of them are flaring off without making the full energetic loop back up and down again.

If you feel it in your legs, the very base of your torso, then your anxiety is due to a threat to your survival. I feel this when I’m in survival mode, when my needs are baseline evolutionary.

If you feel it in your sacrum, your genitalia, it’s due to a threat to your creative self. I feel this when I’m burning out or trapped in a job.

If you feel it in your gut, it’s due to a threat to your power.

If you feel it in your heart, it’s due to over-acting empathy, you’re letting the feelings you have for others and the world around you overwhelm you.

If you feel it in your throat, it’s due to you feeling your voice silenced. This could mean you’re lying about yourself, for example.

If you feel it in your forehead, it’s due to the stress of what you’re imagining could happen, a “doom spiral”.

If you feel it in your crown, falling down your body like a cascade, the anxiety comes from a denial of your truth, your path. You’re failing to rise up into your kingdom and letting your lower instincts take hold.

Once you identify the regions of your anxiety, you can work on rebalancing your chakras. You want to open ones that are closed, for example your throat if you feel you have no voice to speak up for yourself, or decreasing the amount of energy from your heart if you are overwhelmed by feeling bad for people who are suffering from a hurricane.

Then identify the words you use in your mind when you have a social anxiety spike. What are you thinking? They’re going to hate me? I’m too stupid to do this? I’ll never be pretty enough to talk to someone like him? What traps are you creating in your mind? Then rewrite them forcefully into non-trap statements and, when you think the trap phrase, replace it with a new one, until you get used to thinking the new thing.

For example, if you think “they’ll hate me” you might replace it with, “I don’t know how they’ll feel about me until I go and find out” or “I want to find out how they feel about me so I know if they’re worth spending my time with.”

If you think, “I’m too stupid to handle this situation” you might replace it with, “I need to practice more in this situation and this is a great opportunity.”

If you think, “I’m less than the person I’d like to talk to,” you might replace that with “I love and value myself and other people will enjoy spending time with me too. I don’t know this person very well so the only way for me to find out if they enjoy my company is to try it.”

Adapt a “yes and” attitude instead of a “no but” attitude and transmute your thoughts with soul alchemy!

I went from being a terrified homeschooled kid with almost no friends, to a person who worked as a door to door salesperson who can talk to anyone and has as many friends as I want and can easily make more in the period of a decade by focusing on this energetic work and thought rewiring. I DID overtake my social anxiety with spiritual practice…

…But also prescription medication. It’s okay to tell a doctor that you’re having a hard time and try some drugs. There seems to be a common notion floating around in some spheres that taking prescription medication will kill spiritual vibes, but I have taken an anti-depressant, anti-anxiety medication and I’m currently on an SSRI. There is no shame in supporting your spiritual practices with some mundane practices. Taking Lexapro was a game changer for my anxiety, because while my spiritual practices opened my mind and energy body to the idea of a non-anxious me, I was also experiencing physiological effects that were much harder to curtail with energy work alone. This SSRI lowered my blood pressure, stopped most of my headaches and gave me the primed canvas on which I could easily apply spiritual tactics to learn to master my anxiety from within.

A decade ago I would have told you I was consumed by anxiety and terrified of life.

Today, I am just me, I feel anxious when something is genuinely deserving of fear and I face normal social situations with a smile and delight. That is due to the balance of chakra work and soul alchemy on the spiritual side, and a prescription medication recommended by my doctor on the mundane side.

I never did work with any entities for this purpose, although I imagine there are many who can aid you in a more charismatic approach. Of ones I’ve worked with, I would propose that Azazel and King Paimon are great “demonic” entities, but that I believe there’s great value in the old gods for this too. Hermes, Artemis and Apollo are lovely Hellenic gods that have something to offer for social anxiety… Hermes can help with pleasant oration, Artemis can help with personal willpower, and Apollo just brings a general sense of charm into your environment. Norse gods are grand for this too. Thor and Loki together can bring you courage, strength and the chaos for you to test your strength, Baldur can help you with the wisdom to know what to do in a hard situation and Freya can help you with situations of love!

Anyway, there are many ways to strengthen your courage with spiritual practice, and identifying where your anxiety trips you up is the first step towards it.
