No, there’s no “w” in mon. It’s a short sound not a long one. It’s more like a U than an O, like DEE mun.

This pronunciation is why in English it’s written more phonetically as “Demon”. It’s pronounced the same way.

However DAImon is not, it’s pronounced as DYE mon (like in fabric dye).

Daemon is a Greek word and is pronounced DYE-MON. It eventually evolved into the English “demon” through various translations.

Daimon is pronounced the same way so there is actually no difference in pronunciation between the two spellings. Using Ai is simply the Latin spelling of the Greek Ae.
