If you see something like that, I agree with ~darkest knight there is blockage somewhere preventing the success you wish to attain.
Spirits are always like that, they will tell you to wait or sooner you’re going to get what you want. I once had a spirit who promised even a day and month for something to happen and it didn’t happen. 
I did a lot of money magick at the time, but nothing worked and even if I have success it is very small, only in few occasions when I have great success and it it happens once I could forget it in years.
At the time I didn’t know what’s the problem was. I remember once I was doing rites of Lucifer a book by asenath mason I did all the path working within that book, each one at the end there is a ritual to make pact with Lucifer I signed the pact, things started moving but again everything was swept away in single night. That I when I knew the truth. I was blocked in every possible way you can imagine.
So if there are blockages whether internal or magical caused it’s hard for prosperity rituals to work. And sometimes not just prosperity but even any magick that you might practice.
But once the blockage are removed, things will start to flow much more easily.
On the issue of hired magicians, majority of these guys just want to sell their spells, and if you’re looking for a job spell, he will do just that but in reality he has to perform divination at first if there is anything that blocks a person not to get the job afterwards is when he has to perform the spell requested.
And many of these spell casters don’t do that, you bought a money spell they do that and it’s done.
Though another problem is on customers, if you want to be called a scammer tell a person who is doing well that they have curses on etc, immediately you will be branded a scammer (I’m not saying you’re like that but I’m giving a general outline).
I had this friend for example I just did a divination on, and I told him “man I see you’re going to lose this Job, save your money” he freaked out and run in here and message all the people he can to verify it and all they said Im a liar … Three months later he lost his job
My point is, even the most glamorous magicians who seem to know it all have their flaws so I will advise you next time before buying a ritual from someone ask a third party to perform divination on the magician you intend if what he is promising is what he will deliver.
Though on the case of this magician who performed a spell on your behalf (I’m not certain just thinking) he lacked proper emotions while casting the spell, if he is troubled by negative entities, energies or he had any unwanted energies while he was performing the spell in much easier for those energies to interfere or he might have curses unaware of it’s possible for them to interfere so it’s very important to know the people we buying spells from.
