I’m going through a pretty severe case of kundalini syndrome caused by the over-chanting of Hindu mantras in an attempt to stimulate my already weakened nervous system. At first they helped quite a bit but I just overdid them and instead caused more damage mainly to my vagus nerve.
About the only good thing to come out of this is that I’ve become so sensitive that I can now actually feel energy movement and energy blockages, so I can tell when something(like an exercise) is working or not.
I’ve been doing a lot of barefoot grounding and it helps a ton, but it’s not removing the block that I have in my solar plexus/sacral area.
So I’ve been trying the “tongue up” position, placing the tongue on the roof of my mouth right behind my teeth. I understand this as the “wind” position. I can feel my blockages clearing up when I do this but my nervous system heats up way too much and my skin gets very dry.
My main question is, for someone is my position, that being a hypersensitive/hot/burning/damaged nervous system, is the wind position the best for me? What about the water position that places the tongue behind the hard palate on the soft palate? Does this position circulate energy and remove blockages as well, like the wind position?
Too much fire, and wind fans the flames. Visualise water, drink ice water and use the water position as water puts out fire ideas of feeding it. Limit foods corresponding with the wood element.
Have the circuit connected helps your body clear by itself, but you have the sensitivity to effectively use the water method of Taoist meditation to actively dissolve the block. See water gently washing the block away, as rivers erode stones.
That’s a pretty complicated tongue position unfortunately. Do you think just a few minutes a day would work?
Or let me ask you this, do you think the wind position would be ok if at the same time I was grounding barefoot on the earth? Would earth’s energy balance out the heat while at the same time removing those blockages? I’m not working so I literally have all day to focus on my energy/nervous system. The wind position would be easier to do for hours at a time.
I appreciate the advice because I’m nervous to try anything at this point considering my current health issues are of my own doing. I’d rather not make things worse if possible.
I only agreed with you as you seemed to be saying it worked for you and was something you wanted to do… Personally, I’m not a yogi I’m a qigong practitioner, and there’s no need for such a thing in qigong - so I would never use it, the reason being it requires muscular tension, and tension blocks energy flow, so I actually don’t agree with the yoga tradition that says it’s useful, and I don’t see what it’s got anything to do with water, I think it’s counterproductive.
So, in this case, I’d say drop it, and simply place the tongue broadly flat to the roof of the mouth as comfortably as possible, knowing it completes the circuit that passed through the roof of the mouth, through the tongue and down the throat. basically not having the circuit connected is the same as a block.
To help cool down, as well as using food with helpful element correspondences, you can also visualise cultivating (breathing in) energy from very cold places. The Arctic works well. Also take a cool shower before or after the meditation. There’s a lot of tools available to regulate your energy like this.
There’s more info and ideas in a couple of books that exist on the water method of Taoist meditation - I mention it on here from time to time for clearing blocks, I’ve added it to the bottom of this post on qigong books:
Do you feel that acupuncture would be of assistance in my case? Or does the microcosmic orbit + grounding pretty much cover all of the same bases as acupuncture?
If you get a good acupuncturist then I’d say it’s superior. Your diagnosis will probably come put very differently, it won’t refer to kundalini as that’s not a think in qigong, your imbalances will be analyses and the meridians balanced and you should feel a lot better. You should also get food recommendations to keep balancing our qi in between appointment. You may need several appointments until the root cause is healed.
