Feeler thread for a Working Group learning Enochian magick

Continuing the discussion from Enochian - Liber Loageath and Gebofal techniques:

I’ve been drawn to Enochian but put off by the complexity and rumors of it’s difficulty, but at the same time that interests me, as something that takes work to become proficient in, tends to be very rewarding. Proponents of Enochian tout it as a source of powerful techniques, even the most powerful.

I’m inclined to find out for myself, and it occurred to me to throw it open to the forum… Would anyone like to join a study group, which we can hold via a Group PM and work through a text or two together?

If you had ideas for this kind of study group but for a different kind of magick, also post that - if we get a bunch of interest for something else specific we can do that as well or instead of.

For source material, I find a massive amount available, at archive.org and others (can’t link them but the course-style systems I’m looking at are not up at Amazon.

Our own BALG Author Bill Duvendak had books and a course up here - good video explains it all.

Now this is fascinating but pricey and I think I will start with something free to find out how well this energy fits with mine. I don’t have an issue working with “angels”, it’s not that, I just know I get excited about a thing, buy all the good stuff then never use it. My library is full of books I haven’t made time for (yet). I do not wish to disrespect the material or myself doing that with Enochian.

So to start, I’m seeing the work of Betty and Gerald Scheuler as my probably jumping off point, with:

  • An Advanced Guide to Enochian Magick - 1992
  • The Enochian Workbook [this is novice-oriented, where others assume more advanced skills]

That’s me, as a study group, I envision spending a week on each main topic within Enochian and these exist in all (most?) of the books - An intro and orientation to build the map for study, then the keys, the tables, the watchtowers, there’s call and opening and closing rituals, and so on. So there’s no need to get a specific book, we should be able to compare notes and then go do our own workings.

I’ve worked Enochian before and have several books. I have the Enoichian Workbook as well as Bill Duvendack’s Wails of the Wandering Angels.

I am down for studying Enochian. The books I’ve been looking at is Enochian vision magick by Lon Milo DuQuette or the Bill Duvendack one. There was one other one I was looking at but I don’t remember which is was, I’ll search for it and look and the ones you have suggested.

I have Enochian Vision Magick on kindle, but I don’t have any others.

I think the third one I was thinking of was Practical Enochian Magick by Jason Newcomb.

So I was putting things into my calendar when I scrolled into June. I saw on June fourth one task that says “Start Geomancy.” I don’t remember putting that in nor do I remember the context or how long ago I put that in lol. So for different ideas I’d say a Geomancy study group starting June 4th, to find out what past me was cooking.

That’s an interesting idea. Geomancy makes me think of Feng Shui and Ley Lines Dowsing for water and energetic lines in the land, and building outdoor altars and temples, groves and sacred spaces to connect with Earth energies.

I have this book, and haven’t re-read it in years that could be one source:

Ley Lines and Earth Energies A Groundbreaking Exploration of the Earth’s Natural Energy and How It Affects Our Health by David R. Cowan and Chris Arnold

I was thinking the divination system. But some things I read do very much connect that system with things like feng shui and earth energy systems. I personally have never worked with ley lines or anything similar, so that would be interesting to get into. I think Geomancy (divination) and Geomancy (the things you mentioned) could be done together.

Now on the topic of Enochian. I started reading though Enochian Vision Magick and I am thinking that if that’s the path we go down it should probably be the exclusive focus of that group. It seems that system can very… dramatic.

I’m interested, but the question I have is, will we all be working from the same book/system of Enochian, or is it going to be a choose your own adventure?

Most books on Enochian are based on the work of the Golden Dawn as that group was the one primarily responsible for the resurrection and reconstitution of Enochian as a working magical system. They combined it with their own Hermetic Kabbalah and made it functional as a lot of Dee’s notes were destroyed when his library was burned, and the extant journals are incomplete. Gerald and Betty Schuler have done a lot of work with the Golden Dawn system, but I feel they got a little carried away with shoehorning in their own UPG about certain things. Still, their early stuff is a good place to start.

Edit: I just now realized you already answered the above question. It’s a choose your own adventure lol

I think that’s the common denominator of the books I suggested is that they try not to rely on the Golden Dawn material.

I think it is almost impossible for anything about Enochian not to be based on the work of the Golden Dawn because it is the Golden Dawn that made the system workable. Even Bill Duvendack’s book pays homage to the GD.

And Enochian Vision Magick is Golden Dawn. Lon Milo Duquette is known for classic ceremonial magick.

I might be interested…

Yes - from what I’m reading, it’s as you mention, the Golden Dawn were the first to get into unpacking the notes and create a workable system. If John Dee made the foundation the Golden Dawn added the first floor and any everything else builds on that.

There’s also this thing that some of the tables were incomplete or incorrect, and the GD corrected them.

I like the term Choose your own Adventure - I was going with that partly as there’s so many books I waned to avoid having a requirement to buy any more, and partly as some of these say Enochian is more practiced solitary, but there’s still a common foundation and having the mix of interpretations could make it more varied and robust.

I saw Betty’s Messages from he Angels book and it gets into mixing it with yoga and all sorts that you wouldn’t think would fit. I think nothings off the table, but for me I tend to try to understand a current in it’s cleanest form before fusing it with anything else.

So there’s this book, is this the one you are thinking of @DarkestKnight

But Aaron Leitch has this which looks good too

I was expecting the Schuler Workbook to be something like this as well, faithful to the GD material, and then developing into something else as he and his wife continued with it over the years.

The books I have on Enochian are:

The Angels Message to Humanity by the Schulers
Enochian Magick in Practice by Frater Yechidah
Wails of the Wandering Angels by Bill Duvendack (this book only covers the 49 Keys, and not the Great Table or the Watchtowers)
Enochian Magic by Andrew Yahodka
Enochian Sex Magick Workbook by Aleister Crowley and Lon Milo Duquete
Athena’s Advanced Grimoire of Enochian Magick by Athena Wallinder
How to Create the Requisite Tools for Enochian Magick by Athena Wallinder
The Lost Art of Enochian Magic by John DeSalvo
Practical Enochian Magick by Jason Augustus Newcomb

I also have the Schuler’s Advanced Enochian Magick and several articles by Aaron Leitch on the Enochian alphabet in pdf. It seem to be missing my Enochian Workbook though and I wonder of I lost it during my last move…

That’s a nice library!

I see four of us so far and I think that’s enough to start a group PM, so I did that and sent out invites.

May I ask what exactly is a study group in this context? I never took part in such and I may be interested in learning Enochian (Although I’m not sure how agreeable my spirits will be with that). How does it work? Do you need a certain level in Enochian?

It’s a group of people studying the same subject together, having a space to share and support each other as we go, open to any level or experience with the subject.

I am starting at zero, DarkestKnight has many years of study under his belt and has used the methods, and everything in between.

There is no “teacher” and no hierarchy, no fixed curriculum, pacing, or designated reference text, as long as - in this case - it’s some form of Enochian.
It’s not theoretical we want to get into it with our own practices and we’ll adjust to and help each other as we need to.

I have two books, John Dee’s Five Books of Mystery

And Lon Milo DuQuette’s Enochian Vision Magick

I also have below zero knowledge on Enochian, barely any experience with angel work and two spirits under soul contract with rised eyebrow staring.
If you’re ok with what I bring in the table (challenges and all) I’m willing to give a serious practical effort.
