Does Asmodeus = Eros?

Here is a question that I would like the BALG community to weigh in on. Could Asmodeos be one and the same as the Greek God Eros? Here’s my thinking. Eros, whom the Romans called Cupid, was the ancient Greek God of Passion. Isn’t that what/who Asmodeus is? I realize that in modern times we have falsely denegrated Eros by putting him on Hallmark Valentines day cards and drawing him to look like a little baby angel with wings and a little bow and little arrows but here me out. The Ancient Spartians would make sacrifices to the God Eros prior to going into battle precisely because Eros was the God of Passion. Eros or passion is a powerful force. So what do you all think about this question?

No, there is a connection between the Olympian God Eros and the Primordial God Eros, but Asmodeus is not Eros. Asmodeus is Asmodeus, who is also believed to be daeva Aeshma.

Eros is Eros. Asmodai is Asmodai

Thanks I appreciate the knowlege.

Ares is. Is another god of love, sex, tru its confusing about asmodai, asmodeus etc, even gods have diferent spelling. And goddes,

True but being associated with similar things don’t make that demon a God they’re not. That’s the usual force merging a lot of LHP/RHP people do.

I am glad you have historical knowledge on this matter, because certain religious groups often engage in Charismatic Fundamentalist tactics. With your actually explaining you position, being a welcome relief to certain other approaches.

Thanks every one for helping to clear up my confusion

The gods all have their own counterparts or reflections born into a newer set of gods. Unless enough time has passed where the beliefs of two separate yet similar gods have merged enough to affect their archetypes in the collective unconscious, it is foolish to assume they are one and the same just under different names. It would be similar to believing every barber is actually the same guy named Bob. There may be two barbers named Bob with similar appearances, life history, and opinions, but they are not the same exact person.

I am pretty sure Eros and Cupid are actually Sitri, but I haven’t yet started working with Sitri yet but I’m getting closer.

That’s also a forced connection, Sitri is Sitri, not either of the Eros. Just because they govern similar concepts doesn’t mean they’re the same. This need to merge Gods into Demons is spotty.

I have started working with Lucifur and Aphrodite, both are said to be the same both are different, very different but I do really see them as different persona’s of the same now in a lot of ways. I haven’t worked with either of these yet, but I look forward to Sitri.

Aphrodite and Lucifer are said to be the same? where? Especially since Lucifer has a place in the roman pantheon and so does Aphrodite as Venus. I honestly can’t understand people who make these insane false connections.

I think Aphrodite is like a female version of the same identity, I could speak through Aphrodite as a means of connecting to a softer version of Lucifer, But she is still bad ass and can be scary at times too. But this is a connection that is actually made often, says so multiple times in the Bible I’m pretty sure. In doing shadow work Lucifer even revealed this to me as I happened to find old printed sheets that said so that I forgot about.

If it was Norse Aphrodite would be Frey and Loki would be Lucifer but they all blend over time in the various traditions. Pretty sure anyways. Apparently Lakshmi is Venus is Hindu, which I can sort of see, but that seems more like a stretch to me.

All of them are their own beings lol, Loki isn’t Lucifer, Freya isn’t Aphrodite, they all just share similarities there’s no one God of love/lust, no one demon of war, etc. These merges are usually just LHP people failing to grasp that just because beings hold similar titles doesn’t make them the same. Otherwise it’s like saying everyone who holds the title accountant are all the same person, or someone who holds the title english teacher is all just one person. If any being were to be Lucifer’s feminine aspect it would be Lilith, even though she’s her own person, but that’s an example.

Hi I have few more questions for every one on the forum but esspecially for you Rungr since you seem to understand polytheism better than I do.

When one traces the history and archology of certain Goddesses the names and functions of these Goddess seems to change over time. So here is my question. Aphrodite Greek Goddess of Love. Archeologests seem to think that Aphrodite’s religion was 1st brought to Cypres by Phonicians who whorshiped Astarte. The same Archeologists seem to think that Astarte developed from Ishtar who Delveloped from the Sumerian Inanna. So is Aphroditie the same as Astarte and Ishtar and Inanna? If they are not the same where do the newer Goddesses come from?

I wouldn’t say they’re the same, I’ve experience with both, but I can understand the historical connection between them that was made. However, don’t think of them as new Goddesses, but rather because of the region they were “discovered” in is younger than one, doesn’t make them newer than the other, atleast if we’re going by the actual Gods and not man made gods. There has been a long connection between them including Freya, I do believe Inanna and Ishtar are the same person just as Aphrodite and Venus are the same.

These theo/Thealogica questions truly intrigue me unfortunantly these same questions that intrigue me also give me actualphysical headaches. I have another question. Before I get to my question I’m going to write out a quote from Apuleius’ Metamorphoses which is a novel written by the North African Roman author Apuleius in the 1st century CE.Translated from Latin of course.

"I am Nature, Mother of All,
Ruler of the Elements, Progenitor of Worlds,
Cheif of All Dieties,
Mistress of the Living,
Mistress of the Dead,
The Sole Manifestation
of all Goddesses and Gods,
…
Though revealed by diverse customs and rites,
and called upon by many names,
my omnipotence is respected throughout the world,
To the Phrygians of Pessinus I am Mother of All Dieties Cybele
To the Athenians
I am the wise and valiant Athena
To those of Cyprian Isle,
I am Aphrodite or Venus
born of the foam of the Papian coast
To those of Crete I am Dyktynna or Diana
To the Ephesian I am Artemis or Diana

To those of Sicily I am Persephone or Proserpina,
To the Elusians,
I am Mother Demeter, Mother Ceres,
or simply Mother Wheat.
Some call me Hera or Juno
Bellona or Hecate.

But to both the Ethiopian peoples,
those who live in Egypt
and those who dwell further to the East,
They understand my ancient wisdom
more than others,
for they know me by my true name-
Almighty Isis

So My question is how do I wrap my head around these concepts. Even the ancient Romans tried to lump all the Dieties together.

How does that above passage relate to polytheism and even what exactly is polytheism?

Thanks you to all who answer a head of time. These concepts truely give my headaches.
