Some more astrology notes!
As I said, I think this Mercury retrograde is about me consolidating the understanding I’ve already reached and determining how it changes my everyday choices.
Mercury will be spending most of its journey through my 2nd house, then cross back into my 1st house shortly before turning direct. So, themes around personal values, self worth, material and practical security etc. With Mercury in Scorpio, the emphasis will be on examining the motivations and assumptions beneath my choices, including the beliefs I hold about intimacy, trust, and my own worth. Which let’s be honest changed dramatically since my petition to Beleth.
Some aspects I find worthy of noting down:
- Mercury square my natal Venus and Neptune. It’s a super close one, with an orb of approx 0°03′. (It happens when Mercury turns direct around Nov 13 though.)
Venus-Neptune connections are the intersection of love, ideals, imagination, spirituality, longing etc. Mercury’s contact with Neptune will push me to examine how intuitive information becomes a conclusion in my head. And Venus is involved, too, so the subject isn’t merely abstract. My values, attachments, ideals of love and desire for emotional security may influence what feels more compelling or convincing to me. I need to be careful about that.
- Mercury opposing my natal Saturn in Taurus. Moving through my 2nd house and activating Saturn in the 8th. Oof.
This house axis has an obvious relation to the questions I’ve been mulling over lately. “What is mine? What is valuable to me?” vs. “What does trust require? What responsibilities come with intimacy?”
- Mercury trine my natal Mercury.
The transiting Mercury is in Scorpio which asks for depth, and the trine to my natal Pisces is gonna give me a bridge between deep exploration and more intuitive understanding. Also, my natal Mercury is in the 6th house, which is the house of daily practices and routines.
All of this literally matches the message I got from Furcas. Especially during the Mercury retrograde, I am supposed to turn this understanding into a working part of my life.
Notes regarding my partner’s chart:
For him I see three themes: his natal Sun-Venus conjunction in Scorpio, the close contact with Chiron, and its aspects to Uranus in his 7th house.
His Sun and Venus are conjunct in Scorpio, separated by only 1°41′. Mercury retrograde covers both degrees, and conjuncts each of them (three times in total if we count the shadow periods as well). His identity (Sun) and relationship values (Venus) are already closely linked, and the retrograde activates both themes. He will be thinking about these things for sure.
Then there’s Chiron. Mercury passed his natal Chiron around October 20-21. When stationing, Mercury was pretty close to his Chiron, which is often associated with tender or painful places, vulnerability and the process of developing a different relationship with an old hurt. His is in the 4th house, so I gotta look at it through the lens of emotional foundations, family history and whatever.
Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if he really is examining his childhood traumas and his attachment styles these days, because during our last conversation we did touch on this subject. Admittedly I’ve said some things, hurtful things, that might’ve actually ended up pushing him to really look into this stuff. I just feel for him because he’s really had a tough upbringing ![]()
Mercury square natal Uranus in 7th aka the house of committed partnerships. Uranus is all about with independence, freedom, disruption, unconventional approaches and sudden changes in perspective. The square brings those two into friction. So, he might revisit some established assumptions he has about that and it might be challenging for him.
There are also aspects to his Mars (2nd) and Jupiter (8th). So themes of personal resources and security vs shared vulnerability and deeper intimacy. But it’s a sextile and a trine so not tense aspects at all. And since Mercury is transiting his 4th house, and Jupiter traditionally expands, I think he is likely to seek meaning in difficult experiences and put them into a larger framework, reconsider beliefs about trust, and understand the foundations of intimacy. But gain a broader perspective as he does all of this.
