If I had done a petition ritual to asmodeus for something but my will changed and I no longer want what it was that I asked for, will that energy interference be enough to disrupt the petition

Probably, but if you want to be able to work with Asmoday successfully in the future you want to clear the air and do an explicit working to cancel it and thank him, a new petition would be fine, and visuals the new outcome.
