Is blood offering really an offering?
Is it a common thing that the Goetic demons all likes blood?
Yes a blood offering is really just that, a blood offering. Yes most Goetic spirits strongly desire and greatly enjoy a blood offering made to them. When a practicioner gives a spirit his blood the connection between the spirit and practicioner becomes stronger and more intense. It also empowers the spirit with a great amount of vital energy. This allows the spirit to manifest more strongly in our world, or others too perhaps.
Edit: I don’t encourage new practicioners to be giving blood offerings to spirits they haven’t worked with for quite awhile first. There could be safety issues.
Actually, several members of this forum have mentioned some demons of the Goetia have declined offerings of blood. I think it’s a popular misconception that they all desire it. Some of them seem to prefer individual offerings like specialty liquors, certain incense, or art instead.
Funny you mention that. Prince Orobas won’t always accept. He has to be in the mood. You’re right about that @DarkestKnight.
Edit: art is very big with the Goetics and poetry and dancing and song. Just FYI.
I wonder if the demons would accepted animal blood in the case when those member wanted to offer their own blood. Or does that include blood in general. I guess it depends on the spirit in question.
I think it is also important to point out that not all spirits want or desire blood offerings, and you can deeply offend them if you go into an evocation with that idea in your head. I know some black magicians seem to shed blood for anything and everything, but doing it for the wrong spirit can completely fuck up your life.
I remember there was one member of the forum who was new to evocation, and who saturated the seal of a certain goddess in blood because he assumed, wrongly, that that’s what she wanted. She became extremely angry and torn his life to pieces until he apologized and made amends.
Yeah it really seems to man…
Wow what goddess was this?
It was quite a while back, so I can’t remember off hand. It might have been Astarte but I could be wrong.
Yes sir, that’s exactly what I thought you were going to say.
What, that I can’t remember who it was? I’ve been around here a long time and posts do kind of melt together in my brain sometimes 'cause, you know, I’m old and stuff ![]()
No
I had a feeling it was Astarte. Just a hunch. Don’t feel bad sometimes my mind gets cloudy and I forget things too. I think it’s just part of getting older. Thankfully I remember most of the good things and I don’t seem to forget good things and good times. 🤷
I had only offered a dash of blood only once to Astarte and that was on a piece of paper with a printed statue of her that I laminated, all the other times are near daily offerings of sweets, wine, confectionary… I was not aware that some spirits decline blood in such a furious manner. Interesting point to read.
That’s why I always advise beginners to ask the spirit first. Don’t just assume that blood makes everything better because it could very easily make things worse instead. And don’t offer blood if you can’t communicate. Otherwise the spirit may make its displeasure known in…less comfortable ways lol
For sure blood offerings are not a substitute for real communication.
How about my seed?
Now that I didn’t have too much experience with. For me that’s Abit more intimate than I personally want to go with a spirit. Treat it with the same level of care you would blood. It’s reserved for spirits you work with at length. Not for a once evoked spirit. Some spirits like sexual fluids though I can’t recall by memory which ones of hand.
The seed is a potent offering as a contribution. The seed contains surplus nutrients and amazing energy is drawn from it. The peak of discharge should be engaged upon what is wanted in the manifestation or objective itself at hand
pun intended
On the point of spirits refusing blood:
Early on when I finally decided to start really offering blood, I was going to blood King Paimons sigil but it was almost like I got froze. There was a very keen sense of "No…".
Much later I found out that he’s known for disliking blood and preferring sweet offerings.
Similarly, sometimes I want to offer blood and I’ll get a sort of “No, your overdoing it”…“keep it simple this (incense, candle)”
Admittedly, I don’t like to offer blood too often cuz I feel like it kinda cheapens it on my end.
Call me paranoid, call me naive, call me what you want BUT blood offerings just do not sit right with me. I would much rather give burnt offerings e.g. incense, physical offerings e.g. alcohol, bread, meat and this does not mean leaving them strewn on altars but rather consuming them on behalf of the spirit and having them take part in my enjoyment of the offering or my dedicating the consumption to them. At the end of the day I want efficacy and if I don’t have to prick myself or offer animal blood to achieve results why would I?
