TMI warning: 56 yo BWM with father who had prostate cancer.
In 2004, I decided after starting a community college education as an entry to a bachelor’s degree, I pursued an associate’s degree in LSA. For physical exercise credit hour, I pursued hatha yoga.
The instructor told me after the class had closed, that I had a blocked Root chakra.
Besides getting out into nature, what can be done to unblock it? My survival needs and social belonging are a mess.
You can also unblock it through general energy work. By running energy through your body regularly, any blockages will eventually dissolve. You might also benefit from a regular qi gong routine.
Before I became paralyzed through Gilliam Beree Syndrome, I had been trying to rush through “Eight Extraordinary Meridians” by James MacRitchie. As well as Alexander Technique.
I do the Middle Pillar Ritual and Kraig’s Relaxation Ritual, for standard work points.
Divination says your root chakra is as a big tree with its roots going deep into the ground and its branches being healthy and bearing lot of fruits and flowers. Literally meaning the root chakra is healthy not blocked.
I’m not exactly a reliable source , but I’ve read that chakras are connected to the nervous system and organs. By developing a chakra, we influence the organs, and vice versa.
For example, people who constantly use their voice in their work have a more developed speech apparatus and the throat chakra, or Vishuddha.
I suspect the root chakra is tied to the organs and muscles of the pelvis, so physical development of the pelvic floor muscles and the pubococcygeus muscle can help. Wide-leg squats, stretching, and Kegel exercises can also help.
I heard that prostate massage also helps, but I can’t recommend it.
They aren’t wrong. But one misses other things in favor of becoming too specialized in one thing. That chinese system likes to focus on things like that. You could also count the brain as an organ. You also have all the medium and minor energetic pathways and points.
Chakras aren’t merely energy points or associated with Organs. They are also “Gates,” paths and “Gate Tuners.” I won’t go deeper into that, but I will just leave you with this: Backdoor Gate (No wonder you didn’t want to recommend.. it leads to the dark side where the Sun don’t shine… ASS CHAKRA )
The Willy Wonka gate. Yes, there could be hundreds of meridian points. James MacRitchie wrote a small document called Eight Extraordinary Meridians. Interesting and fun, but gets complex as the energy is built up and circulated around the solar plexus or hips area. It needs special care there.
I would recommend wearing bloodstone - a stone that is linked to both the root and heart chakra. I wear mine to bed every night. I would also recommend some practical lifestyle changes that help with root chakra (from my experience). Eating healthier, focusing on a sleep routine to let the body relax, as that will open your root chakra. Drink more water, spend more time in nature. And if necessary start journalling a lot. Even basic talk therapy can go a long way. Remember the root chakra is about feeling safe, and getting out of survival mode. It can take a long time or a short time - but when it’s opened you will definitely notice an change in your overall energy system. Things will start flowing again. I can’t comment on spirits and specific yoga practises (not my expertise) but try mixing the practical with the mystical and in sure you’ll see some results.
