Beginner invoking/summoning help

As I have the house to myself this weekend, I want to try and make contact. I have candles and I know how to create a circle and banish. However I don’t want to get to involved with something I can’t handle. I either want something strange to happen, but I do have some specifics in my life I’d like help with, i.e romance, bully boss, etc (not going to curse).

My background is really only chaos magick, folk magick. I have no experience contacting spirits. When I say I want something strange to happen, I mean I want to have a mystical/slightly scary experience.

The thing is if I am going invoke something I want to try and do the ritual correctly, but I don’t want it to be too complex in the form of props. I apologise for this poorly constructed post, I am using my phone at the moment and about to start work. Basically I have no experience working with angels or demons.

And I must admit after watching the exorcist wednesday, what seemed like a good idea slowly decreased. I know it’s Hollywood. Great film, forgot how disturbing it was

Yeah, I don’t watch horror as an occultist, it just messes with your mindset in an unhelpful way.

Or I’ll watch it to pick holes in it and laugh at how far off the mark it is. :joy:

You may start by banishing and lighting (in the dark) 1 candle in front of you, or 4 at the cardinal points. Create the circle, then contact the desired entity with either its name, sigil, a picture or a statuette.
For example about the sigil you would gaze at it, until it seems to change; at this stage it’s already possible to work with the spirit, but you may also decide to repeat a calling.

I wonder if a filmmaker will ever make an accurate film based on real magic.

I have found myself screaming at the screen “that’s not Belial, that’s not how you summon Belial”.

Nevertheless, it’s all part of how to spread disinformation about the occult. After all we can’t have the mainstream empowering themselves now can we

To be fair in terms of ritual I’ve heard that the devil rides out by Dennis Wheatley (the film with Christopher Lee) some of the rituals I’ve heard were almost real. The exorcist is a very clever film, the only problem is with these films is the Christian mindset. A dark song is another one.

We have a thread or two somewhere where people listed the movies that worked for them. Dark song has definitely been mentioned in that vein. I can’t find it now but we have lists of both awful and good.

But a movie that’s good is still aiming to thrill and scare you for entertainment, which is that part that messes with your energy for ritual if it makes you jump at shadows.

And a lot of real magick just isn’t that interesting to look at, it’s you sitting in circle communing, or you’re off in the astral or you’re writing in your journal… it’s not a great spectator sport when most of the action is on the subtle level.

Fancy ceremonial rites notwithstanding. But I’m not the type to just watch, I don’t watch sports either, I’d rather do it myself.

Always test them by asking things only you would know. You can use a pendulum. If they get a question wrong or decline to be tested then banish immediately.

This is good advice. Also ask them to say their name or show their sigil fully (this advice was given me when I started and it was a game changer). Typically imposters are easy to spot as they are overly enthusiastic. I’ve found the real demons/angels are more subtle and they tend to show more instructions how you can do something by yourself (vs some spirit promising you the moon from the sky).

Maybe it’s best I didn’t do anything in the end. I’m in a vulnerable state at the moment, and lack of research into ritual magick I fear something bad would have happened. I’m currently residing with an elderly relative so I didn’t want to invite something or open a portal and not close it properly.

The fact that I am no longer and kid and 30, it would have been pathetic for me to lazily try and evoke something. My will is weak. I am in training for a new job and it’s testing me mentally. I feel stressed and ashamed to admit it a bit afraid. I forced myself to jog tonight. Perhaps it’s time to get my shit in order sort myself out physically and mentally. Perhaps do some sigil magick to help focus my will. I really fear failing at this job I have at the moment and what I would do if I was to get sacked. I don’t think that’s on the cards, but I feel stupid. Part of life I know.

Sorry to vent in self pity. People are much worse off, I am just directionless at the moment.

Think it was wise of me to step away. Maybe when I am more contented I could read some more and research in ceremonial magick. Gosh Its not like I don’t have a library full of magic and esoteric stuff.

I can see it now. Our protagonist performs a ritual. There is no lightening, the room doesn’t shake or fill up with sulphurous smoke nor does a goat headed figure emerge from the shadows.
A year and a half later the protagonist’s enemy trips and falls in front of a bus.
Fade out on a close up of our protagonist grinning slightly behind steepled fingers
