From Alan Chapman Book:
If you choose an entity that would love to ruin your life and your mental well being, make sure you work with it in the traditional method, or with some other form of protection. As an example, there is a group of spirits known as the Goetia (to be found in The Lesser Key of Solomon the King) that traditionally require various names of God, a triangle for the spirit to be conjured into, and a circle for the magician to stand in, for the protection of the magician. I have encountered numerous magicians who think such protection is superfluous, their argument usually being âother cultures donât need protection to interact with their spirits.â If you want to work with the Goetia, then work with the whole of the Goetia. If you work with the Goetic demons without protection, they will fuck you up.
âI have read in mentioned book , but Gordon winterfieldâs first ritual or Henry Archer book doesnât have protection or circle ? Your idea?â
Thanks
I have had no issues with Goetic entities and itâs not my experience that any of them would âlove to ruinâ my life on any level. (Except maybe Andras - itâs not personal tho he just loves to make a mess, make sure he does it far away from you - 1/2 mile isnât enough it turns out.)
Remember, some of them are actually gods and can be thought of an interacted with as such.
I havenât seen anyone posting here yet that did have this authors issues. Iâve seen a lot of scared newbies buying into the xtian fear mongering though.
I personally warn against people using the Solominic methods for exactly this reason - if this author was using those methods to start with, and itâs my guess that he was, he made enemies from the get go⌠Sucks to be him.
Meh. I think it is only religious minded LHP practitioners who have issues with the traditional methods, not the demons themselves.
There is no evidence for the supposition that the demons of the Goetia were once gods. There is barely a handful of them that can be historically traced as such, so it is a pretty big leap from that small number to assume all 72 were ever worshipped in that capacity.
Winterfieldâs book does have protection. The demons are called with their ruling angels who act as a guiding hand.
Both of the books that you mentioned do have protections built into the ritual. However, I do not think that these protections are in place to prevent the demons from causing you harm. I think they are there to keep you from harming yourself.
I believe that most demons tend to focus on the relatively short-term picture. They look at what needs to get done right now to move you towards your desires. Most angels, on the other hand, will look at the long-term. They tend to not be as concerned with the minute details, but they are more aware of all the different long-term possibilities and consequences of your magickal decisions.
What the âprotectionsâ do is provide the demons with angelic wisdom so that they can use their power more effectively for you. They will be able to find a solution to your immediate problems or desires that is in harmony with your overall life goals and trajectory.
The belief that angels and demons are âat warâ with each other or do not work well together is based on religious superstitions and dogmas. I have often worked with both towards the same end goal, and I have found it to improve results, not hinder them. If you donât like working with angels then donât work with them. Do what you want with your own magick.
Also, I do not believe the triangle (which is also used in Winterfieldâs sigils) is for protection. I believe that it serves as a gateway to the powers and reality of hierarchy. Many seem to dislike this, going so far as to even claim that demons resent the hierarchy. I do not believe this to be the case. I think it is fair to say that many who work with demons desire to ascend to the highest ranks of the hierarchies they are within, however, and those at the top very rarely resent the power that they are allowed to wield from this position.
Generally speaking, there are spirits whose presence is simply overwhelming. Not because they are doing anything to you, but rather because their power is immense. Depending on the spirit, you donât necessarily want that influence just washing over you.
They only obey to King Solomon
I was thinking the same, so King Solomon from my understanding, says the names of various beings to gain protection as well as to be force obeyed by the Goetians?
Could you take a picture about where the triangle should be and where you should be sitting on a circle?
According to the mythology of Solomon, he was given a symbol (what is now known as the Seal of Solomon) by God, which granted him authority over the 72 spirits of the Goetia. King Solomon had the symbol engraved on a ring of silver and, by showing the ring to the spirits, they would have no choice but to obey him.
You always sit in the centre of the circle. You are God in that moment and you sit at the centre of Creation. The triangle is generally placed in the cardinal direction of the spirit you are evoking. So, if you were evoking Belial, for example, your triangle would be in the North (or the West, depending on which attribution you prefer).
Ah okay so names to make demons tremble does not work? Yeah thereâs only but one ring. Hopefully weâll find out a method.
Itâs never the names, but the authority of God, channelled through your will.
Politely asking Goetians with quick results, the downside is I already know Iâm going to get attacked. Thereâs no shield or reflecting powers even when I called up on Michael.
I thought chanting names to make them tremble and has no choice but to obey you doesnât work or doesnât work completely?
Do you by the way know what the seal looks like?
Oh okay you replied earlier than my question
By the way . Do you know a way that gives you full resistance to dark spirits (may it be demons or other beings
I think your fear is getting the better of you, so I highly recommend you do NOT evoke the spirits of the Lesser Key with that sitting in your mind. They will take advantage of it, not necessarily out of maliciousness but as a lesson.
Why donât you focus on evoking angels and elementals first, before jumping into demons? Once you have some experience under your belt, youâll understand a bit more about how all the pieces fit together.
You are going to get a lot of conflicting information here because most of the members of this forum are not ceremonial magicians, and do not evoke in the traditional way, so you will get confused with all the different methodologies.
Here is what I recommend for you:
Learn the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram, and perform it twice a day, upon waking, and before sleep for the next thirty days.
This will do many things. It will banish any negative beings, it will establish a boundary fortified by the four archangels, and it will teach you the prerequisite skills for magick, like visualisation, energy manipulation, and the vibration of words of power.
I get it. I agree. I value ceremonial magic⌠yet I find it doesnât work thst well for me. Iâm just not a fit for it. I donât doubt many and most have succeeded here, yet it eludes next and the simple prevails.
Gordon Winterfieldâs book indeed has a circle, itâs brought astrally by Metatron. The triangle is inside the sigil the demonâs seal is in.
Itâs all there
