Advice/ book recommendations for begginers

I’ve currently been working with works of darkness but about half way through I feel like it’s for more advanced practioners any help or further reading would be appreciated

My first occult book was “The Book of Thoth” by Aleister Crowley, I spent a whole year reading everything that I had to read in order to understand it, and still everytime I read it again I spot new things or previously unexplored things become more clear. It is the book where Crowley explains the tarot deck he designed, that deck is a great initiatory tool and overall a great Qabalistic tool for many purposes

Have you been practicing as you read it? There’s nothing that says you have to blow your way through it as fast as you can. And if you need a break, then find a similar topic at your level and go for it. S. Connelly has some books that are beginner friendly and she has a different perspective. I bounce between the her and EA for specific things.

Youtube is another source of info. It doesn’t have to be related specifically to demonolatry to be useful, as not everyone follows that specific path. I’ve found a lot of channels useful and can say I don’t agree 100% with any of them. Take what’s useful to you now and perhaps something else will catch your eye later.
BALG/EA’s Channel - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC3PbU2BsHFjySvk3sdBltpA
Behemoth-X https://www.youtube.com/user/joenunn666 (I really like this Black Flame meditation and often use it as background when at work).
S Connelly - https://www.youtube.com/user/OFSAdrianna
VK Jehannum - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC9CwXPFHbQ4Zl5n51OTL70g

That should keep you occupied for a while. There are a lot of other channels, but these have large amounts of info. Some are more beginner friendly than others, but it’s good to have a spectrum.

Yeah I’ve made a habit of practicing as I go through a book usually not going further until I’ve got the hang of it. The main part I’ve stopped at is evoking. I currently lack the confidence I feel is needed and I’m a bit reluctant to call on any of the spirits in the book becuse I feel like I dont have enough information on them specifically or on evoking itself.

Hey Patrick, your doing the right thing, learn as much as you can before calling upon these spirits. I studied for years till I felt ready, not saying has to be that long but rushing into it is wrong way about it. Your doing the right thing and you’ll know inside when your ready to move on to next step and work directly with the spirits your learning about. Sometimes they will call to you, I feel Lucifer called to me for while before I began to work with him. When your ready call upon Lucifer and ask him to accept you before calling upon other demons.

There are accounts of people using a pendulum over lists of spirits to find who they should contact first. The intent/focus should be set before running the pendulum, with some meditation involved to clear the mind (to reduce the amount of human error).

Even after initial contact, the pendulum could be used as a means of communication. It is a substitute for developing the means to communicate with them, but it may be useful in the interim.

Anything by S. Connolly is a great start, I’d recommend her book " The Complete Book of Demonolatry" was a great help for me starting out. It’s overwhelming how much is out there.
